GoldWing question, I bought a 03 and my back speakers by the passenger do not work. Someone told me that it did not come with rear speakers but I find that hard to believe as it has the speaker covers on both sides of the rear seat ????

Mountain Man, no that's ok. I"m new to GW and trikes so I didn't know. When I get back home at the end of March I will try that, thanks :clapping:. So it was standard on 03 GW 1800 to have rear speakers?

I would think it likely that it did not have speakers. +1 on what MM said and at some point they could been left unplugged.

From 2001 (the GW1800's first year) to 2005 rear speakers were optional on the Wing. Honda sold a set, and there were upgrade aftermarket units from Polk, Big Bike Parts and many others. We have an '04, and we have helmet speakers with our intercoms, so we don't need speakers. I used fiberglass mat and black ABS cement to line the inside of the grill to make it water resistant, and installed a cigarette lighter style power outlet and a coax power port for the Admiral's heated jacket liner.

If you do get a set of rear speakers, bear in mind that they will likely be better quality then the OEM units in the first place, and 13 years newer. A buddy got an '01 a few years ago and installed speakers in the back. It drove him nuts that the back speakers sounded so much better than the front ones (even through they are smaller) he broke down and got new ones for the front, too. The front install turned out to be a PITA, as lot of the dash has to come off. He said it was worth the trouble in sound quality, and recommends doing both at the same time.
That all turned out to be moot - 2 years later he got a set of Edsets intercoms, said the sound is very good and he should have done that first.
