My 2019 DCT has an issue. when engine is strained going up hills especially in Econ mode, makes a terrible sound on the left side of the engine. It isn't valves, but no one can figure out what is causing it. Doesn't loose power, just really sounds like the engine is going to explode. Dealer doesn't want to fool with it until December. Any good solid ideas. I can't even find anyone who had this happen. I've owned 10 Wings and never had an issue like this

Why let the engine strain? Downshift or take it out of Econ mode. Hilly areas arent where econ mode should be used in my opinion. Thats for open, semi level highway use.

Max, I think you are correct. I went to Tour Mode and it is much better. I wonder why Honda doesn't suggest that in their materials

I dont own a goldwing, but the last snowmobile i had had three settings...eco, trail, sport i think they were. On that, eco cut fuel and retarded timing. I would guess the same with your bike.....

Any vehicle ive owned that had to be shifted, never liked a call for power at a lower rpm....

Happy riding....

Sounds like possible timing. Lugging it down too far. Maybe one of the sensors causing this.

If there's a way to gear it down I WOULD, when climb'n a hill (I never road a DCT/so not an expert here) BUT even with standard shift'n vehicles, we all have to downshift first before climb'n that hill...

Listen to your engine. It lets you know when you need to alter your drive modes. Your very description tells you the motor is lagging in Econo mode. Use the Tour mode or, even better, the Sport mode. It's not like the MPG will drop that much to get peace of mind!
