Hoping to be back around Saturday, I'm having a heart procedure done tomorrow morning and I know at least 1 night in the hospital. I've had Atrial Fibrillation for about 26 years and it's been happening more often lately with longer duration, time to do something about it other than pills.

I'm having a cryoablation procedure and my cardio guy says I have a good chance to be totally off the heart meds if it's successful, a chance I'm going to take with an 80 % success rate, see everyone in a couple of days.

Never heard of the cryoablation procedure, but if it gets you off the daily meds, it sounds like a good idea.

All the best to you Gary.

They are able to do amazing things today. Good luck. Anytime you go under a knife it's spooky. Best to really want to fight but a prayer sent your way can't help so you got one.

Gary,

You will be in our prayers for a good outcome to your procedure. Let us all know how you are doing.

Doug and Becky

We will keep you in our prayers a friend of mine had his heart straightened up with some procedure as well he came through it just fine. Fred

Gary, I've had this done twice in the last six years. Last one was in Jan 2016. Even though any procedure where they go into the heart carries its risks my cardiologist says this is a simple procedure. Now if you've never had this done before (not to scare you but to warn you) you may get some erie feelings in the heart at times. There were times it felt like it wanted to leave my chest it was beating that hard and irregular. Watch making real quick moves and getting up from bed or chair to quick I experienced severe lightheadedness that bad that I many times dropped to a kneeling position in case I would've blacked out which never did happen. I unfortunately was never ably to get off the meds.

My condition is worse then yours however. In Dec. 2003 I did not pass my CDL physical. After more tests and a heart catheterization later the only thing they could do is implant a defibrillator in Jan 2004. They found two 100% blockages one on R/S and one on L/S also the center of the heart has a 45% blockage. The heart is to far gone (dead) to warrant any bypass. I've learned to live with it and not let it control me (cardiologists use to do a lot of yelling till they figured out it did no good) I go in on Nov. 1st for my third defibrillator implant

As soon as I got the implant my CDL licence was revoked which in turn took my state inspection licence because I could not do required test drive

Hello all and thank you for the kind wishes, I've been home for a couple of days now and am doing pretty good according to the Doc. I haven't had any episodes of A-Fib and I'm off the 3 pills a day I was taking for it, hooray !!! I wasn't allowed to do much until today and really couldn't do a lot of sitting, my groin area has been pretty sore. That's where they went up to the heart, 3 holes on one side, 1 on the other, I understand there was a camera, sonogram unit, the actual balloon for the cryo procedure and I forget what the other hole was for, lol.

I also had a camera and another sonogram unit down my throat, the throat is still a little sore after a week but we're getting there. OK, enough of the gory details. Doc said it'll take a couple of months for everything to heal but I can get back to normal fairly soon. It sure is nice to be back on the forums with everyone. Looks like I've got a lot of reading to catch up on, thanks again everyone.

Gary,

Glad things all went well! Take it easy and get healed up. Good to see you back on here!!!

That's sure good news. Proof once again that prayers do work. I've wondered why they have to use the scenic route then I remember what they used to do. I think you'd be glad they used so much territory if you thought about that. And be glad you got out of there without some kind of infection. Hospitals seem to do that more than they used to. So there is a lot to consider here. Just great news all around.:clapping:

It's been 2 weeks now and the Doc said go for a ride so we did, only an 80 mile breakfast run but it sure felt good to be outside in the wind again. Just a little sore but it was worth it.
