had a friend just get back from SD said he was at the Lehman Factory and that they were going out of business and had everything for sale all the equipment and vehicle and trailers. Thought they had been bought out by some one and was starting back up

Lehman didn't go out of business. They were bought by Champion and manufacturing has been moved to the California facility.

The new facility is estimated to be 43,000 square feet and is located in Garden Grove, CA.

Champion officials report that the move makes it easier to export trike bodies to the Asian market from the CA site.

I think the word might be import.

The Chinese don't need to buy US manufactured goods, just copy them at a fraction of the cost and sell them to GREEDY US buyers.

Lehman was doing all their own in-house body manufacturing and then farmed it out locally in SD and MN. Champion/Lehman acquired the body molds and took them to CA. I suspect they made modifications to the molds there and will forward them to CHINA for manufacturing.

I like that - exporting to asia, instead of importing from asia. no doubt they will copy, change a little, and export to USA .... life is a wonderful cycle, enjoyed by all

What? Why do think the Chinese export so much stuff to the U.S.? What do you suppose they buy for themselves?

Most affluent Asians prefer to buy from other countries because their stuff is just so much junk.

Look again at the statement from Champion:

"Expansion into Asian markets and logistics associated with that move has prompted Champion Trikes to close its Lehman Trikes location in Spearfish, the company’s CEO said."

Champion has aggressively pursued the Aisian markets and sell a lot of trike kits into the Asian market. The Asians have plenty of money.

Talking to several people in Sturgis this year about the Lehman deal, I would not be surprised Champion skims off the cream and KILLS the Lehman brand. Happens all the time. Kinda like the prisms of the movie "Pretty Woman".....buy companies, pull out the good parts and flush the rest.

Have a real good friend that developed a great salsa a couple years back. One of the leading salsa makers/distributors bought 'em out and killed his product. Eliminate the competition.
