looking at a 2002 gold wing with a Champion Kit sold axe 80,000 miles for $16,000 just asking if this is good price Bike Very good condition with all maintenance records

What year is the conversion?
How many of the 80K are as a trike?
That info makes a big difference in the value of the trike!

Lot depends on condition. If it is the one you want then it will probably be OK. If ya like it you'll remember that a lot longer than what you gave for it. RIDE SAFE

Plus its not current IRS Models, make sure you try everything for working condition, Motor, shifting, running gear noise, have u-joints been changed or drive shaft upgraded, check condition of pads on the front & rear and braking (Pulling or lack of braking) I own an 2003 Honda and if its been maintained every year correctly, Battery condition and age, reverse use and check fluids and oil.... if any of this is in need of repair that price goes down depending on who is doing the work.... Just some FYI

Properly maintained they will last 200K......

I would try to get the owner to come down a little on price. Trike kits have come a long way since 2002 so you may buy it and soon discover you want a newer one. Wings with 80,000 aren't much of a problem if they have been maintained, and most are, but I would go through the trike kit in detail.

Most important ,being a 2002 check the frame for cracks or fractures. The 2001-2002 had a frame weld recall for it and you might check to see if the owner had the recall done.

The non-stock add ons and farkles may make a difference, too. When we were looking for our current trike there were a few rigs in the running, within a year or two of each other, close to the same miles and condition. One of the things that swung the decision was the one we chose had all the must-have items, and almost all of the want-to-haves. It took me less than 45 minutes to find $4000 worth of aftermarket accessories if I had to pay the catalog prices. The expensive things like floorboards with heel/toe shifter, package rack, lighted spoiler, aftermarket windshield, ring of fire all add up very quickly, and there were a lot of little chrome doo-dads and detail things that brought the value up for us. We still negotiated the price down, but the accessories we didn't have to buy and install were worth something to us.

You can put all the lights, Goodies and chrome on a Turd you could ever want and in the end,
Ya still got a TURD.

Unless, 15-16 G's is all you got or can spend comfortably,
Pass on this. For about 19-20 you will be able to find a much better and more suitable used Unit. It's a Buyers Market on used Trikes right now and the Supply is growing.
Not best Season for a Buyer but given the State of the Trike Owner Demographic, not too bad either.

IMO, 12.5 would absolutely kill this Unit even if in as good shape & overall condition possible given what it is.

If you like the trike and everything checks out and you are comfortable with the price....I feel like the price is not out of line. Sure, if you could get the price down another grand it would be sweeter .....I sold my 2000 model with 60k last year for $15,500 and the new owner traveled a thousand miles to buy it.

The mileage on your proposed 02 would not scare me, the fact that you state the bike has all maintenance records is most important. No matter what you buy, knowing the maintenance history makes a huge difference when purchasing a used bike.

Stay within your budget, find a machine you are comfortable with and proud to own.... good luck and enjoy your new toy!
