Good to see Trikes thriving the world over. We own a 2008 VW powered Oztrike that's done two laps of Australia so far. Touring on a Trike with the ability to tow a small camper trailer is the ultimate of open wheeling. Ride two wheels also and used to road race a Super Bike in the State and National Champs over here.
Anyway looking forward to contributing to the Forum and will post some pictures of our rig soon..

Cheers Tads

Here's a picture of the beast. Its currently running a 1916 cc but it spun a big end bearing on #3 last week crossing the Nullabore (Australia) so I will be fitting the 1600 out of my VW Beetle while I strip the engine and check everything in the 1916.
The engine has been a slug since I brought the Trike and believe it or not the singe carb 1600 out of my 1974 Superbug has more grunt than this 1916 has and that's pushing a car!
The exhaust valve seats have hammered into the heads despite valve adjustments every 2000 klms religiously. Basically the whole engine needs blue printing which I will do once the 4 bolts holding it in the Trike are undone :)

The Trike has a fair bit of touring gear fitted like long range tanks, Spotlights, HID headlight, Towbar for the camper trailer I also built, dual batteries, electric fuel pumps replacing the mechanical VW job, Kuryactin Hypercharger Air cleaners for ram air Oztrike.JPG, decent oil temp gauge the list goes on.
Anyway will post some pictures of the engine damage and other relevant stuff soon

Cheers

Hello oztrike,<br />
Welcom to the TrikeTalk.com forum where you will find the friendliest and most knowledgeable trikers on the planet. You have an interesting trike and you certainly sound knowledgeable. Looking forward to hearing your input and experiences and pictures of your trailer. As always, if you have a question, ask it and I'm sure you will be pleased with the responses. You may want to look into a TOI (Trike Owners International) membership and it is free. Check it out on a thread within this forum. Enjoy the forum, my friend.

Thanks for the intro. Looking at all the different configurations of Trikes out there on this site shows there are some devoted souls to these things. The fact they also help the disabled get out there and get their knees to the breeze is a huge benefit. The capability to tow heavier trailers when touring in itself is reason enough to consider owning a Trike.

Iron Side up ThumbUp

Trike With Hayley.JPGHere's the dish licker Hayley who also rides with the Mrs and I. She's a 10 year old Jack Russell.

Welcome to Trike Talk, from S/W Ohio, USA.
nice looking trike.

Thanks chief. The Ultraglide looks the bizz. I used to own a FLHS Electraglide a while back and loved that bike. Unfortunately I cosmetically wrote it off after lowsiding it on some Diesel on the road.
Still checking out all the different configurations of Trikes out there on the site. You blokes really take the Trike scene seriously, good to see.

Cheers

Hello Oztriker and welcome to the website from the U.P. of Michigan. There are many people here that either have built or are building a VW based trike. The section here has a lot of ideas from past builds , although with your experience you may be able to give some advice. Ride safe.

Thanks mate,
I just did a 4000klm ride across Oz a few weeks ago and 600 klm from home I spun a main bearing on # 3 cylinder so will post some pictures and tech stuff on what I did to fix it roadside to get me home. I'm pulling the engine in a few weeks to split the cases to check for damage as a fare amount of scrap metal got pumped around inside the engine.
Vw's being such tough little engines I don't expect to find too much wrong. I will run the little 1600cc engine from my VW in the Trike while I work on the 1916cc.

Loving the diversity of all the different Trike configurations out there and glad knowing you all thanks

Yeah Gday mate. You are closer than I and from all reports its heading down towards Brissy?
I've been up in the Kimberly's during the wet season and have been on the road that was flooding during a cyclone and it was the most adrenalin I've ever experienced and I raced a Superbike on the edge for many years.
I partake a different type of Wildlife now and am currently working to save the Tasmanian Devils who are on the edge of extinction caused by a rare Cancer. They are pretty much extinct now and the only survivors are in Zoos as they try to bring back the species thru insurance populations.

Cheers
