Hey guys & gals, I have a 1999 GL1500SE triked with a CSC 'Sport' kit (I think). I have been having problems lately trying to get the key in the lock cylinder for the gas door. Anybody else ever seen this? What is the best fix?

I use WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant. Works well.![]()
I use white lithium spray with the small tube.
I recently used a spare all metal key and a cap to make a knob that stays there, yet I can pull it at will. It will not start the bike as ignition requires key to go deeper. It's large enough that it covers all of key opening surround. Been meaning to do it for years, but was not gonna buy a set of radio knobs, so I used a black plastic cap.
Excellant! I will look into this one also. Like the idea of a knob to turn and replace the awkward key. Now where did I put my spare key?

I used a key smith in Warrenton, Va. who advertised on Ebay, two keys. All he needed was year, model, key code off a key. I asked for all metal if available, though the plastic covered ones work too. The two new ones worked in all places, one became my new knob, one is secured on the trike in a hidden spot. . I picked my "knob", measured depth, inserted key in lock, measured it, cut excess off top & seated it in the cap using J B Weld. I was tired of pulling key out of ignition to use, only to have door fall or bounce shut. Now, looks like just a plain knob.
