Fuel treatment

Ok, I'm fairly certain this has been beat to death, but I'm going to "ask" anyways. When you're storing your bike during the "off season" and can't get anything but blended fuel, what additives are you using? I'm hearing all sorts of conflicting information. With a FUEL INJECTED bike, what fuel "stabilizer" is recommended with the blended fuels? I'm having to store my baby for a few months, and don't want to do more harm than good!

Get some "Sea Foam", it can be found at almost any auto supply. Runs about 10 bucks for 16 ounces-you only need to use 4-6 oz for a mc tank. Excellent product for fuel stabilzation, removes moisture as well for cold storage.ThumbUp:xszpv:

I've used it in systems as a cleaner/additive, but not for "cold storage". It's an AWESOME product though, have to admit, one I hadn't "thought about". I've been told by several to avoid sta-bil when using blended fuels; not to mention everyone out there "touts" their products as "the best"... Might as well resort to those who actually use them!

Yes - Sea Foam is a great product. Last I knew, it was about a $1.00 less per can at Wally World.

When i went to the dealer to get something, they sold me the marine sta-bil and I used it last year and this year. No problems that I know.

I was also told to use Marine Stab-bil as it has an addative to help with water in the fuel and will keep your injectors clean (was told on carb models to turn off the fuel and run the carbs dry). I've used it on my boat Nitro 750 DC with a 135 Mercury Optimax for the last four years (tank full 30 gals and then ran engine to insure that it made it thru the injectors and into the engine. Never had a problem, boat would sit covered for 5-6 months and I would uncover it and take it to the lake and it would fire right up.

I'v used Stab-bil for years and does me a good job. Besides the Marine type, they also make one just for ethanol. I am 100 percent sold on there product!

Just reading on a BG 44K can it isa fuel inj. cleaner, also removes corrosive deposits on fuel seending units.
also Mr. Goss on Motorweek says it works.

Not so important in a fuel injected bike. Carbs are another story. That little bit that stays in the bowl is the problem. Do not drain the bowl the float will stick causing more of a problem.

Star tron is highly rated also. Found in the marine section of sporting good of wally world, the small engine section of Advance auto parts, some Carquest and some Ace hardware. You might also try Napa.ThumbUp

Just my opinion,I use Stab-bil in everything from my cub cadet, to a 225 TAHOE ski boat with no trouble.Now i also believe sea foam is a good product so just use what what fit your needs.

I have been using Startron for 2 yrs now and our temps here in Central Oregon get down to near zero. It works great and only one oz. for 6 gals. I use it year round. I've also used Stabil and didn't have any problems with it either. The Startron tells me that it combats the effects of the alcohol in the fuel. l like them both and have been using them for many years. ThumbUp

StaBil for me too - used it for over 20 years in everything.
Also Amsoil has a better long term storage additive in their syn oil.
Don't forget to raise the tires off the ground.

I'm really fond of the Lucas products, but didn't know they made ethanol fuel conditioner. Gonna have to try it. Thanks JG122.

ETA: I'm sold on the Star-Tron for small engine fuel stabilizer. All the boat motor mechanics around here recommend it. I use it in the bikes and all lawn/garden equipment.

outboard motor companys have been battling the ethanol fuel issues probably harder than anyone and their additives work great.
I have been using Yamalube in both my trike and my boat for a couple years now and have not had a fuel related issue with either of them.
