I started the rake kit project today about 9:00 AM, all was going well then the heartache starts. My brother say's "you don't want to see this but look at this left fork dust seal", it was wet so we decided that we're here, let's do the fork seals. I do a 3 hour round trip to the bike shop, get parts and we start on the forks.

We did everything by the book and can not get the fork seals to break loose and come out.

Yep we removed snap ring (wire ring) above the seal and pulled on the tube with sharp pulls to see if it would pop loose, neither side will come loose:mad:

Anybody have any ideas what to try next? The seals are probably original, 2002.

On the left one, with it still mounted in the bottom of the triple tree, remove the drain plug, loosen the upper bridge bolt and remove the cap, spacer, washer, and spring. Then remove the upper seal and wire ring. The slider then should freely move up and down. To remove the lower seal, push the slider up, and slam it down.

Thanks, that helped.
