Front Brake

When I apply my front brake, I feel a pulsating in the bike. Trike is a 2012 with about 15K on it. Is the pulsating a indication of needing new pads or rotors?

Pulsing is most likely caused by warped brake rotor(s). I've had that happen a couple times on various Harleys.

Some other causes / contributing factors could be: improperly torqued disc rotors, improperly mounted and torqued front wheel, worn wheel bearings, damaged wheel causing it to have too much runout.

I would check all these things carefully and remedy any problems you find. Then replace both the pads and the rotors. Be sure to use new bolts and torque them according to factory specs.

Usually thats an indication of a warped rotor..But.....How bad is the pulsating...

I had that on my 11 Tri-Glide , I Put on EBC Double H Sintered pads and the pulsating stoped......

Raise you front wheel off the ground. Put a dial indicater on the rotor and spin the wheel. Find out how much runout you have on the rotors. Shoud not be more than .003.

If you don't have a dial indicator, check with Auto Zone and Advanced Auto, they rent tools;) Or check Harbor Freight for this set. I have a Moog set up like this, it is very handy

Front Rotor

Checked both rotors, one has .020 run out. Confused on what rotors, and pads to buy. Figure I might as well do both. Any reccomendations will be appreciated

I have that HF dial indicator pictured. Works well. Do all that's been recommended. Surprised nobody mentioned brake fluid.Whens the last time it was changed?
