Freewheeler 1 Year Run Comments

I love the style of the bike, but if the lowers I just pre-ordered from JESCUSTOMACCENTS doesn't fix the wind buffeting it is gone. This is the worst bike I have owned as far as buffeting goes. Over all the style is all I really like, performance is lacking and I can't pass a gas station. I think its time with me is limited. I only have 6000 on it but we will see.

I only agree with you on one thing...the wind buffeting. I like the style. I find the performance in stock configuration quite good. I routinely get 32 - 35 MPG running 60 - 65. At 70 it will get 30 to 33 MPG which is in line with other trikes. The GL 1800 Gold Wing I had did not do as well. I don't know what you rode before but IMO the Freewheeler is an excellent trike.

If you want to get rid of the wind buffering get a Memphis shades batwing fairing. All the buffeting will be gone and it is around the same price as the stock windshield also it looks good and can be taken off and on in seconds

I think I had to high of an expectation. Previous bike was a 2012 Road Glide two wheeler. I just was used to when I hit the throttle it set you back in your seat. This is my first trike, a back injury took me off of the two wheeler. My wifes 2011 Street Glide Trike runs circles around it and it's the same engine. Like I said, I just have to get used to the whole trike thing. I think I have a lot of tweaking to do (which I hate). I really do like the bike over all just not getting the performance from it like you and others are getting.

I don't think it's just me though, I have several other friends who bought 2015 Road Kings (Two wheelers) and they aren't happy with the performance at all. A couple of them have their engines tore apart as we speak trying to get the power they had with previous bikes. Thanks for the input though, it does help.....makes me not want to give up on it.

The JES is going to solve your buffeting problem.

I hope so, they sure are great in the customer service department. I was pretty impressed.

Thanks. I will give that a try if the lowers don't work.

buffeting

I had a street glide trike and it was a dog compared to the freewheeler I have now
My street glide trike had the stage one on it but the free is stock except I have the street cannon mufflers. The two motor are not the same. The free has the high output motor where as the street has the normal 103. Put some miles on your trike, get acquainted with it and I am sure you will never go back to two wheels. A lot of people will tell you a trike is not the same as a two wheeler but after you get used to it and forget the hype about not being on a real bike you will love it. Also those who say a two wheeler performs better than a trike are welcome to meet me at the dragons trail and TRY to keep up with me

I think the hp differences between 103's is a little inflated. Our trike's 103 is basically stock and it easily keeps up with 2014-later TG's with the H-O 103.

I agree. One of those fairings, paired with the JES fork fangs, would make an amazing difference.
