Floorbords or pegs on my 1800

I just got this trike a week ago and rode it home from Missouri a little over 400mi. The trike has floorbords and heel toe shifter which I have never had on a bike before and after that trip I still do not like them. My question is will I get use to them? Thinking about finding some stock pegs and shifter and going back to that.

Thanks Dannie

Welcome to Trike Talk!!! You will love the trike very soon...

It's a LOVE-HATE thing Dannie.... I presonally do not like them either. I have owned a few motorcycles that did have them but fortunately was able to shift fine with just the front portion. I have one friend that has them and every time I work on his trike I have fits!! :( :(

Ask around here on the site. I bet someone has take off pegs and shifter taking up shelf space... :xszpv: :xszpv:

I think Jerry is right....the love-hate affair.

Our trikes have the Kuryakyn heel/toe shifter with floor boards.

I like the floorboard part of it but would prefer to have just the peg to use for shifting rather than the heel/toe shifter. Took a while to get used to that.

Jerry let me drive his trike one day...he has the peg .... geez....it felt like driving a real motorcycle again....I almost switched back to the peg on mine.

Hubby Jim preferred the heel/toe shifter on his trike.

Most likely your heal-toe shifter attaches to the OEM shifter lever and all that needs done is to remove the floor-board and its shift lever, and install OEM pegs.

Put about 150mi. on it today still do not like them. Will be looking for some pegs. Fuzzy I am not 6' but I feel like my feet are up and back from where they are suppose to be. It is new to me so like just every bike I have had I will just change things till it is right for me.Thanks for the replies Dannie

Here are a couple of my other wings.133.JPG033.JPG031.JPG

P. S. would anyone have a set of pegs for a 08 GL1800?

I may have a set of stock pegs, I took mine off and added the heel toe shifter. I will take a look for you.

Thanks, firefighter that would be great. I keep riding this trike and like more and more except the boards and shifter. I have had it setting running a couple of times and when I would start to get on accidently hit the shifter and knock it in gear.

heel toe shifter

I'm just the opposite. I have a trike with floorboards and heel toe shifter. When I bought a new trike first thing I did was take the heel toe shifter off the old Trike and put it on the new one. However I have a little bit of nerve damage in my foot and lifting toes up to shift is very hard for me.

Motorcycles have PEGS...Cars have FLOORBOARDS

The heel shifter is an anathema to me..Why???

First mod my wife asked for on her Freewheeler...Take that extra pedal off!

I checked in my stash of goodies and I have the OEM foot pegs off my 2006 Wing. No idea what they are worth but if interested pm me and we can figure something out.

Firefighter, Thanks for looking hope it was not to much trouble. I have had the word out locally and I got a set of takeoff's today pegs and brake pedal. I thank it will be so much better, got a 200 mile trip tomorrow and will know for sure.

Thanks again everyone.

Dannie
