2003 Goldwing still has driver pegs. Want to install floor boards, also down and forward a bit. Do floor boards work on trikes and what do you like?
Thanks Joe

If you install weight bearing foot fairings you can remove the pegs and rest your feet on them. Lowers your feet and is much more comfortable. Also install a Kurt heel rest to assist using the foot brake

What would be weight bearing foot fairing, I have the Champion conversion. Is this something that can be bought?

1st the word Kurt in my post was meant to be Kury as in KuryAkyn.

Google Champion trikes to see if they have weight bearing foot fairngs

I don't believe they do. If you look at the photos on their site they call these things "Lower Accent Panels"..... I don't see how a person could even use them as foot rest at all let alone be weight bearing.. :xszpv: :xszpv:

Since I don't know, I can't say yea or nah so, maybe a call to Champion would answer the question:Shrug:

Comment from a owner on another forum:

"I have the Accent Panels on my Champion and really like them. The two extra large yellow running lights in the front help on being visible. Plus, I am 6'2", 290lbs and the foot peg location on the wing was causing me to get cramps in my legs. I took the pegs off and put my feet on the Accent Panels when RIDING ONLY. I do not step on the panels to mount or dismount, just rest my feet on them."

I have a Lehman Trike kit on a 2012 GL1800. The trike has weight bearing Aqua Shields and I installed the Kury floor boards with the toe heal shiffter as well. The trick here is on the Lehman Kit there are 2 different shape small brackets that replace the OEM supports that support the Aqua Shields attaching them to the OEM Peg mounting brackets. These brackets allow space for the driver boards to be mounted while still maintaining the weight bearing features.

I use the Kury boards to mount and dis-mount the bike. Champion which mow has purchased Lehman may have these addition brackets that would fit the Champion Trike. I can give you the Lehman Parts numbers if you wish. It may be worth a call to Champion to see if they would fit.

If referring to running boards, some manufactures make them weight bearing and some don't.

Just and FYI ... be aware that some running boards make clutch fluid changes, evaporative control system inspections, and coolant changes more labor intensive. On some, the running boards must be removed or pulled loose in order to remove the lower center cowl. According to Honda, some of those services need done every 12,000 miles.

I just purchased the Champion Accent Panels for my 2012 and there is a square metal tube support that bolts to the frame where the main stand was attached that has mounting pads that are fastened to the inside of the boards when they are installed.Running Board Main Support Bracket.jpg

Not sure what the Champion Accent Panels are but I did have KuryAkyn floorboards on a 2007 GL1800 Champion conversion. They worked great and I could put full weight on them; there were also highway pegs for stretching your legs a bit. Sold the Champion conversion as it was solid axle and the missus was never as comfy as with an IRS. I didn't notice much difference from the driver seat as far as ride goes.
