got word today that my trike will be back in NH late Friday night or early Saturday morning. Once back the front end needs to be done with the Steer lite kit and the defective Gas Sending Unit needs to be replaced.

Hoping he will finish it up Saturday and I can take possession either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning.

Sure would be nice to have it BEFORE June............

Where is Paul Harvey when you actually want to hear "the rest of the story"?

What are you talking about? :(

several prior posts explain but just to get you caught up......

took bike to dealer in Oct "14 before weather changed
build was scheduled Feb/Mar
at time build was to start, owner went in for surgery
while he was gone, 2 techs left without notifying the owner
bike sat there not being touched for at least 5 weeks not being touched
owner would not answer or if he did, would tell me everything was moving along
Trike manufacturer got involved
bike was taken from NH to NJ to be build by other shop (without my knowledge)
other shop had it for almost a month, just finished up the back end
original shop owner heading down Friday to pick up trike
once back in NH, he has a full day to complete the front end and get me the trike

end of story....I HOPE OR should I say, And know you know The Rest of The Story.

You are managing this much better than I would. I'd be on the phone every day or they would see my smiling face every day. Course I probably would not be smiling.

Good thing is it doesn't sound like it will be much longer now. Good luck to you !

Ah HAH! Now I remember your tale of woe. But it started so long ago that it not only escaped the short term memory, but also the long term memory.

Now, where was I?

Well, he should be on the road now heading to NJ to pick up the trike. Today he gave me a "guess" to have it completed for pickup Tuesday because he had to send back the rear tires and order different ones. Also ordered a front tire and the replacement gas sending unit. All SHOULD be delivered Friday OR Monday.

SO, I PENCILLED in Tuesday as the completion date.....PENCIL.....

Reality and history tells me not to plan on going until Wed/Thurs so IF it is ready Tues I will be happier instead of disappointed once again.

I can still see that single ray of light but will not get too excited until I know it's back in NH and ALL the parts are here to finish it up.

Any suggestions on what kind of "discount" to negotiate for being 10 weeks late on delivery???? I'm thinking at least half price on labor at a minimum..........

10% off Total Price .... ThumbUp
Reasonable & Fair & quite doable on his part. Still allows him to cover actual costs and real money spent across the board with a little left over.
Plus should end up being respectable amount of recompense for your trouble, frustration, and efforts.

How many times can ONE guy F... up a trike build? Not sure of the final number yet as he still needs to do the front end.

Good news...My trike is almost back to NH for the final portion of the build, the front end.

Bad news...Owner finally sent me a picture (while at a fuel stop) of my new trike.....WRONG PAINT JOB!!!!

I am so Pissed off right now.....he is so lucky to be somewhere on the road.

Top picture is the paint job I asked for and was told it was a done deal.
Bottom picture is what I am getting.

Notice anything wrong????

At this very moment I only want to pay him for parts (at cost)..........this entire process has been beyond ridiculous!!

Throughout this ordeal I have mostly supported him due to the circumstance but this is the last straw..........total incompetence...........

check out all wiring before you leave, all fairing wires will be unplugged or moved to do rake kit, you don't want something not connected right.

sorry about paint job, that's more or less stock paint for your year venture.

Just a thought to consider before you go stringing anybody up or throwing in the towel on a knee-jerk assumption...
Seen MANY a RSV Trike. 99% + of them are Paint Schemed exactly like Pic #2 (differing colors of course).
ONLY one ever seen like Pic #1 is: Pic #1.

You absolutely sure the Manufacturer even offers or would do the Scheme as in Pic #1?
Was Pic #1 a One-Off Custom?

Just saying
Just as much if not more of a possibility as it is he screwed the Pooch.
Of course in keeping with his proven shortcomings in proper communication,
He should have made the "No Can Do" more clear and/or addressed that quickly and clearly up front. Definitely fumbled in the Comm area but that Defect of his is a well known fact already.

Besides, Paint can always be added. Far from a real reason to scrap the whole deal in my mind at least....
Did you pay for the Custom Paint Job/Scheme? If so, then at very least a Refund is due.
If not, No offense but did ya think you were getting more (in this case a Custom Job and quite a bit more) for no more money?

Not judging you or against ya here. Simply trying to help put some proper perspective on the situation.
Exacerbating-YES.
Reason to nuke it all-NO.

The picture was supplied and the builder said he would make sure it was painted like that. I'm the price of the paint job included two tone paint and it was totally understood that I wanted my trike, my way and I would cover any $$ needed. I got an email from him several months ago stating that he received the parts "Painted to my specs".

No matter how much anyone plays Devil's advocate....this could have been corrected if he would have sent pictures as he promised and I requested over and over. NOW the delivery is already 10 weeks late and I DO NOT have the paint job I requested.
Again, all this comes back to ZERO communication.

I know you think I'm over reacting and to you I may be. However I know what I've been thru and Hannigan knows the entire story behind this fiasco. I think I have been more then patient and forgiving of this entire process.

I have already passed on going to Rolling Thunder this year because my trike was not delivered on time. I also have two more TRIKE trips planned for June and one of them is to Nova Scotia. The reservations I made for the ferry are Nonrefundable. If he repaints this now, the way things are going both my trips will be cancelled and I'll be out almost $500 for the ferry...........so I do not think I am over reacting.

You begin to wonder how much of the shop his techs ran and how little he had hands on his operation. It doesnt have to make you wonder why they waited to leave his shop when they did. My final issue would be would I trust him to finish up the paint and rake kit given the circumstances of whats transpired so far.

At this point I'm still trying to calm down enough to see him this morning..
I've been going thru emails to verify he understood what I wanted and was going to have done. Below are a couple quotes from his emails. Unfortunately, I can't go back far enough on my phone to get the emails in which he received the pictures I sent him of the desired paint job. I will post those quotes once I pull them up on my home computer.

March 6th
"we are in the process of painting it as you requested".

March 6th (same email)
"I will take pictures".

April 10th
"Just to make sure we are current: The paint color matched as you submitted to me".

I have received a total of 2 (two) pictures since this all started and both were Friday night May 29th @ 9:46pm and they were taken that afternoon before putting my trike on the truck to transport to NH.

I understand what many of you are saying about Hannigan having a set paint scheme for specific trike kits.......I'm fine with that. However, when the guy committing to my build tells me I can have it painted my way, that is what I expect.

IF there was an issue with the painter NOT understanding how it was supposed to be painted after looking at the pictures submitted with the order to paint, he should have stopped and verified the shop for clarification. Also, the shop owner should have contacted me and discussed the issue and or any extra costs associated with this paint job so that I (the customer) would be satisfied with the end results.
Additionally, any shop owner worth their salt, checks parts when they come back from a paint shop to make sure the paint job is what was ordered and there are no flaws or damage.
