F1 Light

On a trike, what will trigger the code on the F1 light? On a "normal" wing, it is putting down the side stand. Not there on a wing. Now what?

Don't need it now, but never thought I might not be able to trigger the code on F1.

"As I recall someone mention the fact that this switch is zip-tied in the up position. If so that makes it a little inconvenient but not impossible to still check error codes. Just have to tie the switch back in the up position when finished."

"As stated, mine was taped then zip tied just inside the left sidecover. I removed the tape and rotated the switch to the down position. When finished be sure to move it back to the up position."

"Pull your left engine cover, and it should be tied back or tucked in the area of the radiator reservoir. I would bet the switch is still there, just put away. "

"On page 21-47 of the 2006 shop manual is shows a diagram of the switch.

With the sided stand down the green and yellow/blue stripe will be connected by the switch. With the side stand up the green and green/white strip wires are connected.

If you use a double pole - double throw toggle switch and connect the green to both common terminals then the yellow/blue strip to one outside terminal and then the green/white strip to the opposite outside terminal what you end up with is one wire shorted to the green wire depending on swithch position. In my parts box I found a miniture sealed switch that I will be installing in that circuit."

Bill, some of us have installed a SPDT toggle switch to simulate the side stand switch. Mine is inside the gas cap. Others have put them in the locking right side box. Just takes a bit of time ingenuity. It's nice to have things like that handy when needed... :xszpv: :xszpv:

In my case all I need to do was connect the green wire to the switch common input, the Green/with stripe to the normally closed (NC) contact and the yellow/blue stripe to the normally open (NO) contact. My switch is spring loaded to a center position (no contacts) so I had to be sure the NC and NO were observed. If you use a fully mechanical toggle switch I don't think it will make any difference with the output wires. Good Luck....

I'll put this on my to-do list. I'm retiring in 3 weeks, and initially I have 8 or 9 projects for the wing as my first goals.
