Exhaust system: Vance and Hines Dresser duels vs Power duels. Whats your thoughts?

Hello,

Haven't been on here in awhile. I wanted to get your opinion on a new exhaust on my 2015 trike. I'm trying to get the heat down, and I know if I change out the exhaust that would be good. I am looking at putting on VH components.

I want to use the VH black out slip on's and I am not sure on the headers...

I originally looked at the dresser duels. But then someone said to look at the power duels. So I thought this would be a great place to get some good answers.

I am only under warrrenty on my ESP now, so this should not be an issue since it is no longer covered under that plan. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Don

I'm slowly trying to get it completely blacked out over time. Minuteman had he best black out...

Thanks.

I'm also looking for exhaust ideas, I was trying to stay clear from V&H 's just because I've ran them for years on my two wheelers( several different bikes all metric) and just want something different with a low, deep rumble, plus i think V&H's are slipping on quality in recent years

I had my heart set on RC Exhaust 4.5's then was told they wont fit the tri-glide

Have had 5 muffler sets on. Open free flo to high performance to mello stockers.

Have V&H setup for Trike. Low end improvement, not loud with excellent exceleration.

End result; you need back pressure on a stock engine with a tuner and a/c mod. Unless your going for the ultimate dyno treatment, keep it simple. JMO :Dorag:

Oh yea- don't forget the cat removal if keeping the oem headers, that are better than you think !

What V&H do you have?

I'll probably go powerduels. But also mufflers?

I was was looking at eliminator 400s. Or or black slip ons.

Whas your thoughts ?

I have the eliminator 400's on my Tri Glide. Just realize they are loud. So if your going for a mellow sound, these are not it.

As far as black out.

The Power Duals will give you more power than the Dresser Duals. We have used and sell both. Depending on what sound you like, the Dresser Duals have a bit more of an old school sound.

For felt heat reduction, these Floorboard Extensions will reduce felt heat more than a different set of headers, and are a lot less expensive.

I am running the Power Duals on my TG.

Question, you have the eliminator, is this with or without the lift kit? I don't have a lift kit on mine and I was curious for those that don't, if muffler clearance was an issue for any one.

Thanks again.

Sorry another question ion. You say the eliminator's are loud can you still hear your stereo ( mine are in headset) without isssues? But the muffler sound should be nice 👍

My trike has six high end speakers with amplifier. If you want to hear music, you pretty much have to crank up to max to hear it going down the road. I too wear wireless earbuds and have no problems. So a headset or earbuds, you shouldn't have a problem. Vance Hines say they have a another set of baffles which will quiet down the eliminator mufflers but that is BS. Not in production. So if you want loud and good rumbling sound, I would buy these. One thing is everyone will definitely hear you. I personally really like these over several other slip on, that I have tried. Definitely, sounds like a Harley.

I lied, I just looked and they do have the other quiet baffle out. Link is below. If you want. Me I will stick with original sound.

Without the lift kit. But I do have coil over shocks. I removed the air shocks, hated the ride.

I probably will do the lift kit, later this month because everyone says the steering is better. But you can put these pipes on without dragging on the ground. But there is always that one gasoline stop that has a steep driveway.

My 2014 TriGlide has PowerDuals and the Trike SlipOns that Vance & Hines makes. I also use a V&H FP3 for tuning.

Makes the bike run *much* cooler than my wife's stock 2016 TriGlide; and I like the sound. It is loud to others; but doesn't overpower my stereo when riding on the highway.

I have the V&H Power Duals and Round Slash Cut mufflers on my 2015 Tri-Glide. I will have to say that this combination is a bit loud, but not so much that you can't hear the radio. I also installed the Screamin' Eagle high flow air cleaner and had the dealer reprogram the EFI. There is a definite improvement in performance.

I also installed the rider floorboard spreaders. This along with the elimination of the cat con has made a significant reduction in the amount of heat felt on my legs.

When I got mine I spoke with someone at Vance & Hines, I was told the power duals produce more HP an Torque than the dresser duals so that"s what I went with. Power duals, slash cut slip ons an SE filter along with the FP3 tuner.

Power Duals

I had the same questions, decided to go with the Power Duals last week. Absolutely love them, can actually feel the power difference. I actually am at lower RPMs in same gear at speeds. I would say around 60mph I am now around 250 rpm lower. Has good sound, not bad at cruising speed, but a nice throaty sound when decelerating.

What mufflers you put on ?

I've asked several dealers and other people, I wanted to de cat my stock header but was told that there isn't enough back pressure and I will have issues even with a tuner. They advised that the FP3 is the only tuner compatible with the 2017 M8 motor.

dealers also stated the V&H power duals or Rinehart headers, my choice of mufflers, SE air cleaner and a FP3 would be the best setup....

im looking for heat reduction on the passenger more than performance, although I'll accept performance upgrade too

Anyone have thoughts on this or is or suggest a better combo?

I think it"s personal perferance mostly, I had rhinharts on my ultra classic. I think the rineharts sound great at idle, but at high rpm they sound like a nascar. Rinehart does make headers for nascar, V&H makes headers for Harley Davidson drag bikes. Figured I would try the V&H this go around.

My passanger never once complained about heat until I let her drive one day when it was 90 degrees out.:laugh::laugh:
