I have an '02 champion trike 1800...right at 30,000 miles.just had cams adjusted as per specifications. have had and still have noticeable Ticking sound in engine...not noticeably one side or another....how concerned should I be?

No one can give you a correct answer without listening!
I'd find a good mechanic, let him/her listen and listen to the advice given

NO ONE CAN KNOW WHAT THE "TIC" IS WITHOUT HEARING IT!

A slight click is more desireable than none. The click means the valve is closed compleatly The cam to valve adjustment is slightly loose.

I've not owned an 1800, but the other wings & valkyries I've owned would occasionally make that tick. It always boiled down to a noisy PAIR valve. It sits dead center top of the engine, sometimes clicks as the valves open/close to recirculate exhaust gases. I've never really seen one go bad, some are just noisier than others.

ETA: My current Valkyrie does this also after it gets hot. It is not a concern. I know they can be removed (unless you live in Ca) with no side effects in performance, and you lose a lot of vacuum lines doing so. (Less chance of a vacuum leak in later years)

I guess the question is how it relates to motor speed. Does it speed up with RPM. Is it high pitched or koi klunk sounding? U can use a long screw driver as a stereoscope to try and find the source. Unfortunately for us the Wing motor is so electric smooth the slightes sound can be heard. I sometimes hear my timing belt slapping.

On the 1800 you also get the tick from the injectors. Usually more when its cold than hot.

Well, if all else fails drive it till it breaks and fix what broke.:gah:

Put some loud exhaust on that puppy then you won't be able to hear the tick so you won't worry about it.
