Engine Oil Question

I live in Minnesota and will ride my 1800 GW Trike April-October every year. Temperature range will be 30's-90's (maybe even 100+ if I travel west). My trike currently has Amsoil 10x30 (seller changed it before I bought) and was wondering if I should switch it to either 10x40 or 20x50, any thoughts on which will provide best protection?

If its a 2012 your book says 10x30, if it's a 2010 or older 10x40. I would stay with what the book says. These engines have very tight tolerance I would not use 20X50. Just my thoughts. Stay with the required weight oil for warranty also.

Id stay with the 10w-30 too.
Beside Amsoil is one of if not the best out there.
Has a ton of ZZDP which is good for all bike engines.
10w-40 if is a little noisy in the summer months.
20w-50 is I hate to even print this too thick for a newer GW, in my 2cents worth.
Being in Florida I use it in everything I own except the Wing.
I use Amsoil 10w-40 here all year long in my 2010.

Stay with what the manual says. Period. I use Castroil 10-40. Some folks are big on certain brands but stay with what Honda says on weight.

I use Rotella T-6 Synt. in the wing, Venture and Road star.
I drain the oil and replace filter every 5,000 miles.
Fast, cheap and easy, just like me.
The book calls for 3.9 quarts I figure the .1 of a quart about 3.2 ounces stays on the side of the gallon bottle, 128 ounces, so I just pour it in and forget about it.
Ride safe.
