1800 engine oil

Can you use straight 30 weight Rotella, I bought it by mistake instead of 5/30?
Thanks

Use the 30wt. on your garden tractor/lawn mower not your trike.
Purchase Rotella T6, 5-40 Synthetic Oil for your trike.
If you go to the Shell Rotella website you can get a $5 rebate.

Ride safe,
God bless,
Gideon

Shell rotella is good oil,but i don't care for the 5-40wt in my trike. I have used it and have had no know problems. It just don't feel right to me(if that's even possible) when the engine is running or when shifting. Personal preference I guess. I like 10-40 wt in the trike.

Same here, 5w is just a little thicker than 3-in-1 oil......go with Honda recommendation

NO 5/30 in anything

A friend president of an oil company compounding and supplying lubes to mfg. said the chemist said Never use 5/30 in anything.
its a solvent base breaking down rapidly. It's short term small MPG increase.I have known people who used it with chev 350 engines that knocked after a few years use. Others see 300,000+miles on 10/30 or 10/40 if you change oil every 3000 miles.
This is another bad example of cafe MPG efforts by US Govt to stretch
the normal limits to seek unrealistic results which caused damage.
Delo 15/40 has a trans advantage. Change oil every 3000, Its cheap.
Happy Day

Is this a typo ? 5/30 ? This doesn't belong near any bike thread.
This oil has questionable value even in low HP small motors.
Not to be confused 5/40 synthetic, that's a different animal.

Shell Rotella-T6 Synthetic 5W-40 Oil is heavy-duty diesel oil. Though marketed as engine oil for diesel trucks, Rotella oil has
found popularity with motorcyclists as well. The lack of "friction
modifiers" in Rotella-6 means it does not interfere with wet clutch
operations. (This is called a "shared sump" design, which is unlike
automobiles which maintain separate oil reservoirs - one for the engine and one for the transmission.)
Shell Rotella-T6 5W-40 provides unsurpassed protection against shear-stability degradation, compared to the leading competitive API CJ-4 5W-40 products. An extremely shear-stable product helps
maintain consistent viscosity and oil pressure in the engine.
Used oil analysis (UOA) reports on BobTheOilGuy.com have shown wear metals levels comparable to oils marketed as motorcycle-specific.
