First thing that comes to mind is this. Is your trailer set up as a five wire system (dedicated turn signal only lamps) or is it a four wire (combination brake/turn lamps? Both the 1500 and 1800 have isolated turn and brake lamps requiring voltage from separate sources. :xszpv: :xszpv:

My gl1500 is a 5 to 4. The 1800 is 5 to 5 on trailor

I'm sorry, I just took another look at the OP. If turn signals operate normally then I would not think the issue is in the trailer. Does your trailer have the dedicated/isolated turn lamp or the combo turn/brake? Does the emergency flashers operate normally without the trailer?

I know. So many questions. Need to know so maybe I can help.... :xszpv::xszpv:

The flashers on the bike seem to optically be separated from the other lights on your bike. It is highly possible that your problem is in the circuitry of the bike. Don't mean to be a bearer of bad news, but it could be a design flaw within the original machine. I imagine there is a fix and you are not the first to encounter the problem, but I have no idea unless there is a circuit board replacement to correct your situation. Good luck, I could easily be all wet, but might be an avenue for you to investigate.

Edit:
I did a little research and found this on another site. Hope it helps, seems they had the same problem.

Well I had some free time tonight. I was right and it was an issue with the Add-On converter.
I used 2 spare saddlebag side lights that I had for test lights. I figured that they were 12 volt incandescent lights and they were better than nothing. First I connected one of each at the trailer plug for the left and right turn signals. When using the left or right turn signals, they flashed just as they should. When I activated the hazard lights, one would weakly flash and the other did nothing. So I got into the rear wiring and tested the output on the isolator harness. This time the lights functioned as they were supposed to. The hazards flashed both sets of lights. I tested both sides of the butt connectors that I used to connect the isolator to the converter. So I knew that the converter was getting the proper power for each function. I went up to the local Autozone and picked up a Hopkins brand converter that specifically mentioned LED lights. After hooking the new converter up, I hooked up the trailer to the trailer plug off the converter. This time everything worked! The tail lights came on when I turned the ignition on, the left and right turn signals worked, the brake lights worked, the brake lights in conjunction with the turn signals worked, and then I tested the hazards and both trailer tail lights were flashing. Finally I tested the hazards with the brake lights and they still flashed like they were supposed to. So life is good once again...

Boy I bib not expect so much detail . Thank you for your help . Not much of electrician but trailor wireing can be a headache. I have no idea why Honda did that .some state you have to go through safety inspection thank god mich. does not. I see MIA flag I was in the Navy Seabees MC 128 1966,67 swf PO2 . Tinsmith 38 years GM. Thank you very much. Bernie:pepper:

If anyone else has this or figures they are going to run into it with new equipment, you can pick up a box (not sure of the price) from most auto supply stores that will tell you which wires to hook to it and it will take care of the different lite workings. It has been several years since I've gotten one but they work great.
