I don't know if it's something to do with the Dakota Digital dash or possibly in the ECM. When I'm tooling down the highway and engage the Georgia overdrive, or in this case pull in the clutch, the bike will read seventh gear on the dash. Re-engage the clutch and I'm back in 6th gear. Sometimes I wish I had a 7th gear.

I have the MX- 2011 on my Freewheeler. Sometimes the indicator has to catch up to the gear shift. Spoke to DK engineer around 2020 and he said may be software related. No I don't pull in my clutch while jamming down the highway unless I'm shifting gears...Mama would suspect me of being a retard- like she needed another reason.

Well I guess that makes me a retard then. On a real hot day if I'm cruising downhill I'll back off the throttle pull in the clutch and coast for a bit. It's not like I pull in the clutch with high revs.

I've not done what you refer to so I don't know if my Dakota Digital gauges do that also. I'll check and let you know. However I do sometimes get some phantom readings as I scroll through the trigger switch to look at settings - trip A, trip B, etc. Sometimes I'll see data for tire pressure but don't have tpms on the TG so where that comes from ????? Often times reads 41 front and 28 rear, lol. I've also see an oil pressure reading - of zero. So this must be the digital gauges picking up some strange signals from the bmc. And I don't always see these readouts. Also some times the speedo and tach 'drop out' and go blank for a couple seconds. Again I guess its gremlins in the bcm. Strange for sure but I do love the Dakota Digital gauges. Once you've had them you can't live without them.

I get exactly the same thing on my Dakota digital dash. 41 front 28 rear on tire pressure and I don't have TPMS either. It also reads out zero oil pressure sometimes. Had me concerned the first time I saw it. LOL
Also sometimes the RPM and the speedo gauge will go blank with just the Dakota digital logo. After 2 or 3 seconds everything comes back to normal. I called Dakota digital about this as I have talked to other people who have had this happen and have called them. They said they didn't know anything about it must be a fluke. I think they just don't know what the hell it is.

In this case 'they all do that' is probably correct. Backstory - I got DD gauges on my 2020 TG. It 'blanked' out on me a couple times and I too thought something was defective so I returned them and DD replaced with a new set. Guess what? They did it too! I 'lost' the DD gauges when I sold my 2020 and when I got my 2024 I was determined not to spend the $,$$$ for the DD gauges. But I just couldn't live without them so I bit the bullet and bought a new set. And yes the do it too. Infrequently enough that I'm not really concerned . . . and nothing to do about it in any case.

For those that care..or not.The MLX needs a sensor ( optional) to show oil temperature and needs to be installed in the M8 assembly bung in the oil pan or the oil drain. PN 1044 and 1500-01 depending on application. Dakota is very proud of this sensor. So I took an( been around since God made dirt) AC-Delco 213-920 (5/8-18) and turned it down and recut the threads to 1/2-20 which is exactly what DD does. If you don't have a lathe you can do it by hand since it's soft brass.

Yes. Mine is the same. Pull shift lever while in 6th and it shows 7th.
