Does anyone read the disclaimers?

When dealers quote me a price and include the setup fee it just angers me. Why well this is why, #37 in the disclaimers on Harleys site You know that little mark next to the price, this is what it says (Harley-Davidson reimburses dealers for performing manufacturer-specified pre-delivery inspection and setup tasks. Dealer prices may vary.)
So why do the dealers include the setup fee in the price they give us?
Just another rip off. If you didn't know this before you know it now, be aware of this tactic in your negotiations.

I'm assuming you're talking about the Dealer Prep fee. It's a gimmick to just charge you more. It used to be negotiable, but all the dealers have banded together and now it's not. At least they were up front about it and showed it in the quote.

I've walked out on deals with new vehicles in the past where they don't disclose it until you're shifted over to the Finance Mgr to fill out the paperwork and then they spring it on you there. I remind them that when I negotiated the deal, I'm writing a check for X number of dollars - take it or leave it. I've had situations where we left and went to dinner, then get a phone call while we are sitting there eating asking us to come back, they are willing to take a "loss" to sell us the vehicle. I know better than that and is why I hate dealerships so much.

It used to be just a few new auto dealers would add pre-delivery prep charges that were not required from the manufacturer. That has changed and gotten out of hand if my last vehicle purchase is any indication.

Four months ago I cut a deal on a new Telluride. The dealer was adding just over $2,000 in a prep package that included window tint, interior protection, and ceramic exterior coating. I told him I didn't want all of that and to my surprise he informed me that it is automatically done to all of their new vehicles when they arrive!

After another hour of me saying no we finally reached an agreement. He would take the $2,000 off if I would purchase the wheel and tire protection warranty for $600. I caved because I was getting a good price on the vehicle anyway. Probably won't return to that dealership in the future.
