Do U wave

Maybe it's because I have two wheels in front?
Speaking for myself, I know I can't always tell if it's a small car or a Spyder until they're about even with me....coming around a bend or in poor light, it's not always obvious. I'll wave as soon as I'm sure it's not a car, but I know they don't always see me do it!

I wave at all of them too except the scooters. Sometimes you cant when your in a switch back or sharp curve and hope they understand. But what hurts is when they dont wave back or just stare at you. Lot of the two wheelers wont acknoledge you on trike because its a sissy trike with training wheels. I think thats so wrong! Especially because some of us can only ride trikes because of disabilities from the wars or an industrial accident or car accident. Like you said we are all brothers and sisters so it does hurt when they dont or you go to a rally and they find out your on a trike and its like solong seeya later and they cant get away fast enough. I wrote a article about it and sent it to full throttle but they never would put it in. But even though they wont sometimes wave back at you I still always do, two wheels or three there no different to me

I almost never have anyone on a two wheeler who doesn't wave, at least in my area. I dont wave first, but wave back even to scooters because I truly like anything with two or three wheels, doesn't matter to me. I noticed at the rally most waved but a few Harley guys did not. Some people will always have ego issues and are just too .

I generally wave at everyone. There are times when it is not practical, like changing lanes, coming to a stop or taking off. Sometimes on the interstate I kind of get into my own little zone and don't pay to much attention to the traffic on the other side of the median. Does that make me a bad person? (Like I care!)

Hey Spirit, interesting point. The spyder probably does look a bit like one of those smart cars. No matter, i'm not that easily offended by the non-wavers. The gawkers in the cars more than make up for any biker that doesn't wave. You know, now that I think about it, I must be a bit "wave" happy.....even when I fly I wave the wings @ others ;)

I rode about 100 miles tonight, and started using a three finger wave like someone else mentioned.

Most gave a startled look, and waved back. A few gave a look that resembled shock at my 3 finger wave. Eyes wide open, slack-jawed. Don't know what that was all about. Good reason to continue doing that wave though ;)

I've been waving since 10:00am on August 14, 1957 (when I first got my "restricted license") and hopped on my first motorcycle -- a 98cc Moto Parilla. Been waving ever since whenever it is safe to do so.

I even do a whole lotta waving in my car as well. It is a restored, highly customized 1974 VW Type 181 ("The Thing") which always draws a huge amount of attention. See for yourself if you want: Thinga'Ma'Bob

Boy, no wonder my left arm is tired all the time!! :D

Sewelly..I love it! I have tears rolling down my cheeks from laughing so hard! Back on Target...Yes I wave, don't care what Brand, how many Wheels and I love waving to the LEO's...Drives most of them nuts because they can't figure out if they should wave back!
Of course when I'm Riding with my Blue Knights Group, most guys on duty will wave at us first ;-)

I wave at everyone. What I find interesting is when I ride the BMW hardly anyone on a Harley will wave back. When I ride the Harley hardly anyone on a BMW waves back. Which leads one to believe it's the Brand and not the person. It will be interesting to see what waves I get or do not get when I get the Trike and start riding.

Yes I try to wave to everyone when I feel safe to do so. When I wave, I roll my fingers, all four , up towards the sky & leave my thumb hooked on the steering wheel about 10'oclock. I get alot of nods, some waves, & some just do nothing, maybe I just shocked them, & they do not feel safe to wave back ,which is understandable. lol , it is all good, just great to be able to ride . I am haveing the time of my life riding & i hope everyone else is too. So if someone dosen't wave back ,they may not feel safe doing so . You know, we are differant , with a third wheel, lol. Ride safe, & have fun .

We wave at all of them..Bikes ..Trikes,,,LEO's and offer LEO's a trial ride on the Stallion after the explaination of who.what.why.when.& how... Charlie D:wave4::pepper:

Always loved this little story regarding the waving & brotherhood

excerpted from "To Wave or Not to Wave: by Shalom
Auslander

I love motorcycles, and I love riding. Like many of you, what
first drew me to bikes was not just the experience of riding, but
the feeling that I'd become part of a special community - a
brotherhood, really. Nothing calms me more than a long ride
down the interstate, waving to the members of my beloved
clan...

...Except when I pass Harley guys. I hate Harley guys. Hate,
hate, hate. When they pass me on the highway, you know
what I do? I don't wave. With their little tassel handlebars and
the studded luggage and the half helmets - God, they drive me
crazy.

You know who else I hate? BMW guys. Oh, do I hate those
guys. I don't wave at them either. They think they're so great,
sitting all upright, with their 180 degree German engines. God,
I hate them.

They're almost as bad as those old bastards on their touring
motorcycles. You know what I call those bikes? "Two wheeled
couches!" Get it? Because they're so big. They drive around
like they have got all day. Appreciate the scenery somewhere
else, Grandpa.

Oh, and Ducati guys - I don't wave at them either. Why don't
they spend a little more money on their bikes? "You can have it
in any color as long as it is red." Aren't you cool! Like they
even know what a Desmo-whatever engine is, anyway. Try
finding the battery, you Italian-wannabe racers! I never, ever
wave at those guys.

Suzuki guys aren't much better, which is why I never wave at
them, either. God forbid they should ever wear any safety
gear. They make me so mad. Sometimes they'll speed by and
look over at me and you know what I do? I don't wave. I just
keep going.

Please, don't get me started on Kawasaki guys. Ninjas? What
are you, twelve years old? I never wave at Kawasaki guys.

I ride a Honda. I'll wave at Honda guys, but, even then, I'll
never wave at a guy in full leathers. Never, never, never. Yeah,
like you're going to get your knee down on the New York Thruway.
Nice crotch, by the way. Guys in full leathers will never
get a wave from me, and, by the way, neither will the guys in
two piece leathers. And I'll tell you who else I'm not waving at -
those guys with the helmets with loud paint jobs. Four pounds
of paint on a two pound helmet - like I'm going to wave back at
that! I'll also never wave at someone with a mirrored visor. Or
helmet stickers. Or racing gloves. Or hiking boots.

To me, motorcycling is like a family, a close knit brotherhood of
people who ride Hondas, wear jeans and a leather jacket (not
Vanson) with regular gloves and a solid color helmet with a
clear visor, no stickers, no racing gloves and regular boots (not
Timberlands). And isn't that what really makes The Brotherhood
of the Road so special?

Just saw this! How funny! I, however, will wave at a kid on a swing set on a city street or at a pedestrian at a cross walk. Usually they are too surprised to suppress a wave back, especially the kids. And tourists! And I will wave at the HD guys, the BMW guys, the Suzuki guys - who cares what they think of our gorgeous Goldwing trike - we love it, so fuggitabouddit. :p

Just to refresh my memory, I went back to page 1 and read all of this thread and had a good chuckle all over again.:D Wow, there certainly is a lot of nodding wavers in the bike/trike world huh?:pepper::wave4:

I wave at everybody and always check a bike on the side of the road just because they may need help..What goes around-comes around...(hopefully)...tom

I wave with one hand as I give them the low rider sign and wipe the bugs out of my teeth with the other hand where I am always smiling. Trikes make you smile you just can't keep from it.

I am on 2 wheels hope to be on a trike next year. I wave at all bikes and scotters and trikes and the good ole bikes you pedal. Usually get a wave back.

Bruce ThumbUp

I wave all the time, its mostly 1 percenters that ride harlys that don't wave back, but it doesn't bother me,a bike/trike is a bike/trike, just glad to be able to ride, and meet/greet other riders

I have a problem with this. I have mostly Harleys, 1 percenter's and all mostly (not all) wave back. I have more guys on Gold Wings, and other store bought bikes that do not wave.

I wave all the time to all bikes. Sport bikes are the ones most likely not to wave. Went from a RoadKing Harley to the Goldwing trike last November -- maybe my imagintion but seem toget fewer waves from 2 wheelers
