Different rear wheel sizes

Question, My wife's 97 valkyrie w/CSC kit has 15" rear wheels. Mine is a 2000 valkyrie w/CSC kit and it has 16" rear wheels.
Does anybody know why the change?

The change was due to 15" wheels being phased out in favor of larger diameter wheels.
