I was just wondering if anyone has tried to paint the wonderful plastic chrome parts for the GL? I have been watching videos for dechroming plastic model parts but did not know if this would work on Kuryakyn or Show Chrome plastic parts. I would like to have the fairing vent's painted to fill the hole in the front of the fairing on the 08's.

You may ask a good paint body shop in your area to see what they may say. I know my body shop does great work. They cut a piece of my trike completely out of my fender and replaced it and you would never know it was done. I was totally amazed how good it came out.
With the new types of paint out there, I believe nothing is impossible.

the dealer that just built mine will paint the meter panel for me in Jan since they are painting another 08 Pearle white, was wanting those fairing vent chrome piece painted instead of chrome.

Karen, have you considered just scrubbing them down real good with fine steel wool to give the primer something to hold on to. Then having them painted the same time you do the meter panel. You'll most likely ruing the tape holding the inserts in place by removing them but you can either pick up some more tape at any auto parts store or just use clear silicone sealer. :xszpv::xszpv:

I bought the Kuryakyn storage/cup holder insert for the center lockable compartment on my '12 Goldwing at Madison Wi. Wing Ding two years ago.
I got it home and notice it was chrome instead of matt-black to match .

I sanded it down, and bought a rattle can of matt-black for plastic paint, gave it a couple coats and it turn out great.

Good Luck

I'm going to buy a set and try to get them ready for the painter. I have to hurry because they are painting in Jan to get the meter panel to them. Now to get the panel off!!!:xzqxz:
