Dealer nearby has 99 Valkyrie with MotorTrike conversion...what to ask

Saw the bike on their website and sent them e-mail asking if the kit had any additional options, they did not do the conversion and the website said the conversion was done in 2013, but no other info. I may take a ride to see the bike.

Any things I should know or ask them about a MotorTrike conversion? Was there an issue with the drive shaft(?) a few years back.

Thanks for your help
Frank

It should have the new drive shaft, green u-joints at the motor. In that year MT had both straight axle and IRS, ask which kit was used. The Valkyrie is a magnificent machine...

Owned a 2000 Valkyrie Interstate til I sold it to a friend last year, & bought my GW Roadsmith. The Valkyrie is a great piece of machinery. I loved that motorcycle, did a lot of wrenching/customizing on it. Not foolproof (what is?) but damn near perfection for a big, long distance cruiser.

GW takes it for a touring bike though. ThumbUp

Agree, whatever trike I get, it will be a Valkyrie or Goldwing

I bought a 98 Valkyrie with a motor trike kit 2 years ago. Haven' had any problems at all with mine. Had 8100 miles on it when I got it. Had a full service done when I got it home. So far I changed the front tire, had stress cracks on the side walls, new handle bars, the reach was uncomfortable for me, and had a 6 degree rake kit installed. See if the trike your getting has a rake kit installed, if not you'll want one. I got mine from Zook on here.
