Custom Paint Jobs

I know there is no definite answer or prices but to the many of you who have had custom designs painted on their trike, such as angels, indians, sunsets, etc.etc. what does the average custom paint job cost? A lady friend of mine had hers done for $700 and said that was cheap. I have not had any experience with custom painting but am just curious.

Yes your friend is right. I had a mural painted on my trunk lid and it cost me $350. Hand painting is very time consuming..... I could just imagine having several done. It would easily go over $2K.

Here's my "Whiskers." No It's not a self-portrait...... :) :)

I had Nathan Curry at Currys Bikes and Hot Rods in Branson, MO. do my chopper. It was all airbrushed. I have won best paint dozens of times in national shows and magazines. Very reasonable, only $1500 for tank and fenders. Unreal quality.

I also had another bike custom painted out of Texas for only about $500, and a very nice job for tank, fenders, side covers and nose cone. Flames with skulls insde.

Custom paint can go through the roof. However, the most expensive is not always the best.

Curley, we had a local gentleman, Tom Rich, do Indian and Western scenes on John's Ultra several years ago - it won many 'firsts' in bike shows and was stunningly beautiful! When we got the trike, he did the pinstriping on our trike, trailer, and helmets - we wanted something more subdued and he absolutely nailed it. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple of years ago from colon cancer, and his sons are doing auto body painting. I'll try to contact them and see if they have any recommendations.

Attend the Rallies for Gold Wings and they have several painters that hand paint bikes. If you want your bike done with air brushing, I would recommend that you send the parts that you want air brushed. Bruce Koch did all of my airbrushing on my stallion out of Florida. He can be reached at 850-384-6059. He is an award winning painter and also teaches air brushing. Chopper Society is the name of his business. paintyourbike.com
