Hi. i can't find any post in the forum about this topic. i am going to mount a wood 22xe camshaft on my 2021 Freewheeler, and I have a question: should the crankshaft runout always be measured when changing the camshaft?

Before and after install to compare numbers is a good idea
.003-.005 is a good number, HD calls for .012 as being too much IIRC
It matters more if you are putting in a gear driven Cam. Chain driven you are allowed more "clearance". I checked the run-out on the crank on my 2017 when I put an S&S Cam in a few months back and it was 0.0025.
What Jack and Ray said.
I just put a new cam in my '19 Tri Glide, and the video of us checking the runout is below...runout check starts at the 11:18 mark.
