I once was seating in this place to eat with some friends in Louisville, KY. We were discussing the correct way to pronounce Louisville. Either Louie ville or Louis Ville or Lull Ville. So after a while of eating and arguing, I asked the waitress: could you please state very slowly where we are. She looked at us very strangely and said BUR GER KING.

Now that's FUNNY!!!pepperpepperpepper

Folks over on the British Isles have it rough pronouncing the place names. Heck, even the country of Wales is spelled Cymru by the Welsh, wich is pronounced Kem'-ri. Oh, and the people themselves are, in Welsh, Cymry. Which is pronounced Kem'-ri.

Give Thibideaux La whirl. When I lived in Little Farms La and Dad's relatives from Utah came to visit we always had a good laugh on how they butchered that one. (Tibido). They used to joke with us and ask if we spelled "Fido" p h y d e a u x?
Another funny one in Utah is Duchesne pronounced Doo shane
