Continued Love Affair with the 2017 Tri Glide and 2015 Can-Am F3S Spyder

Wow, am I ever hooked on trikes! Today, I did about 80 miles of a 190 mile ride on my Can-Am F3S Spyder on twisty North Florida/South Georgia roads. Then I decided that I had not had enough riding so continued on for the remainder of the total 190 mile trip.

I can't get over how much fun the Can-Am AND the Tri Glide are in putting around. The Can-Am continues to amaze with its increased agility, independent front suspension and smoother ride over the Harley but the Harley ride is equally intoxicating and pleasurable in more of a Barco Lounger fashion. The Can-Am is smooth and torquey whereas the Harley is rough and torquey. The Harley frankly does not give up much to the Can-Am in the twisties but you have to work considerably harder to keep up due to the lack of speed correlated power-assisted steering on the Spyder.

I still miss riding on two wheels just a tad but it is becoming less and less important as I play with my two trikes. I seriously doubt that I will ever get another two-wheel machine although I must admit to about 400k miles of two up fun over a lifetime of riding. I think for the last xxxx? of my life, three wheels is going to be where it is at and I will just keep fond memories of all those two-wheeled adventures of the past.

Oh, I should mention that I am having waaaay toooooo much fun with a recent acquisition of another race car that seems quite suited to my driving style in autocross. About 300 horsepower and a total dry weight of about 1450 pounds makes for some very fun autocrossing. This past weekend, I was able to get in 8 runs on good concrete with my Avon B11 compound racing slicks on the car and it just kept getting funner and funner as I shaved gobs of time off the clock that culminated in the fastest time being my last run. So you don't think I am "Joe Racer", my adjusted PAX time put me at the absolute back of the entire other 42 entrants and I was as they say in racing parlance, DFL. I just wish I hadn't done a big fist pump upwards that went crashing into my roll cage on my fastest run. My right hand fingers are still sore. Maybe the celebration of my 68th lap around the Sun next month is trying to tell me something??? Green Stalker.jpg

You're just having way too much fun!! Nice collection of toys for sure. Had a Spyder for a test ride when they were first introduced a bunch of years back but wasn't that impressed. Should take one out again for a more objective run.... My bride wasn't comfortable on the back as there wasn't a backrest so I was more concerned for her than I was in the ride.

You don't stop having fun because you get old, you get old because you stop having fun!!:D

Just watch those fist pumps - don't want to weaken your roll bar....;)

Cheers

Doug

You're a crazy man!

Looks like a ton of fun...well, not quite a ton, 3/4's of a ton. :D

Have fun, & be safe!

Kevin, You hit the nail right on the head. If I wasn't a licensed shrink, I would probably have to commit myself because I would have a fool for a patient:confused: I forgot to mention that I just got back the week before racing from Gila, New Mexico (man, is it desolate out there) in the far Southwest corner of the State way miles into nowhere on dirt roads where I picked up another large telescope (28" Newtonian Reflector) that I am rehabbing. It turns out that my 16 years in that hobby just doesn't seem to give me a rest. I am always trying to push the envelope in motorcycles, cars, telescopes and hopefully stand-up-paddle boarding that I have only done once with paddleboards I bought for me and the wife a year ago at Christmas time.

I think retirement is going to be boring at some point but I just don't know when that is going to happen??? It's a good thing that we have cool trikes with some cool gear from DK Custom Products.
