My mother n law has a HP laptop with windows 7 on it. She likes to play some games on it. When we load the games they will not come up full screen for her, even if we select full screen. These games are the ones where U find things so we need to get it bigger for her, she is 77 yrs young.
Anyone have any suggestions or tips, we would appreciate it...
Thanks in advance for any help..

tks, we did set everything on the games to full screen...
I don't have windows 7 so everything is new to me on her's.

I don't run Windows 7 - but have played with it. I seem to remember there's a 'run as' or something like that on the launcher icon. You might try to run it as XP or another previous version of Windows - especially if it's an older game. Not all that long ago, 1024x768 was considered 'full screen'.

There is the key. I run old FPS games made for Win 98 , and you have to go into the game console and set the resolution from 640 X 480 to at least 800 X 600 or larger, and the middle tab on the actual window that looks like a square next the the one that is red with the X in it may take it to full screen, but if the res is set below 800X600 it will only be a window of that size. What is the game we are talking about?? That also may help...

She has a whole bunch of different games, Alabama Smith, Civil war, Nancy Drew mysteries etc. but they come up full screen when loaded onto my wife's computer with Vista on it. But when we load them on to her mother's they are not full screen??? and we check the box full screen when we load them.

Interesting!!!
Try: right click on the program; you may have to dig into the hard drive C to find the actual programs themselves. When you right click the program come down to "Properties" and click it. In the box that comes up look for a tab at the top that says "Compatibility", and click on it. In that window you can set the game (program) to run as ?????? there are several selections. I would be on the safe side and run as Windows XP Service Pac 3, and see what happens. You will have to do that to each program (Game) that isn't working at full screen. The key is knowing just where the actual program is on the hard drive.

Thanks for the help, will try it as soon as I can..
She had also taken it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and they could not figure anything out???
Will let U know if that works...
Thanks Again

Steve if that doesn't work hit it a little harder with the hammer..If you haven't gotten it right by next Monday night let me know. Our computer geek will be in doing some work on Tuesday and he knows Windows 7 quite well.

Well there's your problem..........

You may have to edit your display properties to change your screen resolution, especially if you have a wide screen monitor and the game was not designed for wide screen use. Not having Win7, cannot tell you exactly how to do it. In XP which may be similar, just right click on a vacant area of the desktop and select properties. In the display tab, change your screen resolution to a lower setting. Then start your game and it should be larger on the screen although the picture quality will not be as good. It's a work-around, and the game is likely not compatible with Win7 or wide screen monitors.
