Went on a benefit run yesterday to support a children's group, police escorted traveling to and thru multiple firehouse's,297 bikes and the run was well organized. As in many group runs there always those who for some reason want to lay back and create a gap in the pack. Now I know some people aren't comfortable in large packs and that's okay,so they should try to avoid them.

We had one person riding a homemade trike that was having issues with the engine stalling as they were slowing down and would have to restart on the fly,so they kept getting further behind. As the police would cover the intersections of traffic lights and four way stops they would go around the pack to the front after the last bike which was being followed by a cruiser with full lights as wells as the motor cops did.

When we were coming thru town the trike had a big gap and when the officer had went around them a car tried to cross the gap and the motor cop struck the car at the rear axle sending him flying about 20 feet and the car ended up on its top. This was caught on video.Thankfully the officer will be okay.

In today's world so many folks are more concerned that its my right to do this or that and that's fine, but common sense needs to be applied if you are having issues with your ride that could effect someone else, please pull out of the pack or don't attend.Just my opinion.

Sorry to hear there was a incident at the event. Sometimes when trying to do a good thing it just doesn't work out. I agree if you are having issues with your ride you should withdraw for the good of all. Surely no one intended harm things happen. A reminder how fast bad things occur. :(Travel safely Fred

Fortunately, my pack usually only consists of one. I don't want to be blamed for the failure of any event.:)

I agree ' I haven't ridden in groups since the early 70"s ..I prefer to chart my own destiny! That said I'm glad most people can ride ln groups especially for charity 👍📞
