Changing rear brake pads

I have a 2001 gl 1800 with a 2016 Roadsmith trike kit. I have the part number for new pads but was wondering if their is any tricks as to installing them. I’ve heard they will just “ drop” out without taking loose and others say have to take them all off rotor. For those that have changed your own can you tell me what you did to change them and is their a tutorial on how to change them out?

Here you go Mike,

1. Remove rear wheel(s) if you cannot jack up whole trike.

2. Remove two very small cotter pins from rods that hold brake pads in place.

3. Push/pry on caliper to push back so brake pads have room to move. (Doesn't take much)

4. Pull pins out. (while they are out, clean brake pad pins and smooth off with scotchbrite pad to remove all road grime and residue. I put a small dab of brake grease on pins to coat and reinstall.)

5. Pull old pads out and replace. Note orientation of backing plate when removing old pads.

6. Reverse order to reinstall.

Thanks for the info. Wasn’t sure if calipers had to come all the way off.
