Hello -

Any thoughts or wisdom regarding hitch racks / cooler racks / wheel less racks for the back of a Goldwing champion trike?

My concern is getting something that will obstruct the trunk door, be difficult to use, poor quality etc.

Please share your experience - thank you.

Build your own like I did and you will get exactly what you want. Mine is not that large, but like I said....get one you like, or build the one you want. The trailer is for the long trips and this one is for the shorter trips. Don't try and overdo the size or you will be dragging it on the pavement when you hit the gas stops and motel entrance ramps.

There are some guys on here that will build you a custom model or may even have something in stock you like...I am sure they will chime-in.

Welcome to the site. Like your screen name. There are several members here that have the racks. I am sure one or two will chime in on this when they see the post.

I have a GL 1800 with a CSC kit, so it's marginally different. What I did was get an ATV carrier from e-Trailer. It's 36" x 22" x 4" & works fine. Wired up a LED 3-way light to the rear for safety. Will post some pics Wed for you to see. G'Luck

Guys.....we don't even know if eatworms has a hitch or not. Maybe he needs to let us know what kind of hitch he has, or does he have one at all. A receiver hitch rack is worthless without a hitch.

What about it eatworms?

Hello - we have the champion hitch, we are wired (if needed) and ready to go.

Good point on the dragging.

We considered fender racks too, but I'm not sure I care for the look of the (2) options I've seen. I think I prefer the look of the curved racks b/c it matches the curve of the fender, but don't know if that is as functional as a flat rack.

There are many solutions and the guys who work with metal have made some really nice ones, for a basic rack that is reasonable try ebay searching under motorcycle cooler racks, 48$, I got one and with a little mode of drilling the set screws in the CSC tongue to make sure thier isnt any possible swing it works really well, 22"x15", I also shortened the the mounting arms by about 2 1/2 inches to move it closer to the back of the trike, seems more stable only involved drilling 2 3/8" holes, I can do dat:yes: many solutions it depends on the ultimate purpose of the rack, mine will be a hard cooler filled with supplies, then ice and beverage upon arrival at the RALLY IN THE VALLEY!!!!

Hmm - thanks for sharing the pictures, hopefully we'll get more replies. I guess I have to decide how bad dragging is and how often will it happen?

Thanks again to all for the feedback!!
