Received my Illinois CCW today. Put Application in Jan. 5th. Illinois covers 18 states. I also took a Utah class and waiting for the non resident permit. Utah covers 32 States. Will have a combined total of 34 States for Concealed Carry. :D

Congratulation on getting the CCW. I've had one for years and I encourage all eligible to get one. As a former deputy sheriff, the more with a CCW the less work for law enforcement.

I'm surprised Utah doesn't cover more. My TN license covers 39 states alone. One of the ones it doesn't is IL (as far as I know, IL has no reciprocity).

I've considered getting an IL out of state.

Congratulations on your choice to exercise your rights.
Rod be sure to read each states' CCW regulations before you go. I teach a few CCW classes every year and some states have some quirky regulations even though they honor your states license.

At least one pistol leaves the house with me everywhere I go. Simply won't go anywhere without one except into places prohibited by law. Congrats and carry. just 'cause you never know.

Congratulation on getting the CCW, I have an Idaho CWL and Utah for many years then got a
Arizona two years back reason are: In Idaho you have CWL you can buy any firearms and take the home with you after you fill out 4473 no NIC check but Nevada will not honor Idaho, so I have to get an Utah now Nevada will not honor Utah so I have to get an Arizona the Nevada won't honor it again I like to go to Las Vega or Jackpot if I cannot pack my gun with me it look like I am NAKED it. Now Idaho have an enhance CWL I took a class and got second Idaho permit an very happy so I can carry most state excepted 11 states and mostly I don't care to visit anyway.

Thanks Warren, thanks everybody. Feels so good knowing at least I have a shot ( no pun intended ) a defending my family. I have also a New Hampshire, Penn. and Utah permits. Was supposed to go to Florida class, but my friend didn't call when they had it.

Good deal Rod. I just renewed my, it took only little over 2 weeks. They changed the rules and the card. No more finger print on it, but now has your pic and all kinds of state holograms for security. Only good for 5yrs and coast $30.
With the new laws here we can carry almost anywhere except state buildings and parts of the airport. ThumbUp Have gun will Travel ThumbUp

Look into an organization named 'Second Call'. I'm going to sign up soon. In the, hopefully never, event that I have to stop a threat, they provide legal defense and other benefits nationwide. Not the cheapest program you can get, but really looks like one of the most comprehensive. I already belong to Texas Law Shield, but basically all they do is provide an attorney. Check out Second Calls website. They have a downloadable information booklet that provides some very good information.

I got the packet from Fl. then send in my training certified that I got for Illinois and a Passport picture ,the fingerprint cards that they send, and the money. Was pretty easy. Think you can also use the Illinois Certified for Az.

Hey Y'all,,,,,Just for general info..My state,,Florida, accepts my DD214 as the gun safety course requirement...So all of us vets can save a bit of money and not have to take the gun safety course !!! Fl. still wants your 134 bucks,,tho.. I wonder if any other states will accept the DD214 ???...

the dd214 counts as 8hours in ill.... you still need to do another 8 hours

In Texas, during the INITIAL CCW course, an individual must demonstrate proficiency on the range; the DD214 allows that person to skip the range portion I believe and at my gun club it also allows a person discount on the course fee and gives the person the ability to join the club at a low discounted rate.
