Don't know if this has been covered before but I was having trouble getting the 'wing' to fire up on the starter button except when released so I was told to locate C54 Connector and clean with specific aerosol and what a difference, engine fires up immediately.
Best Xmas present ever.

I have seen this tip mentioned before and worth doing. But also keep in mind that the GL1500's are power hogs and if battery is low, you will experience the same thing. The not starting until start button released is a classic sign of a low voltage battery. I don't recall the exact voltage but if it gets much lower than 11v, it will be hard to start. They want good fully charged batteries to fire up. If your battery is getting old, it's not a bad idea to consider replacing it. The key is to pay attention to the battery voltage.

One thing I remember doing if mine had sat for a while is to push the start button before turning ignition key to on. This would prevent the headlights from coming on and give full power to the starter. It saved me on more than one occasion.

I'm ok with brand new battery plus I use a trickle charger if needed but battery rarely drops below 12.4 volts. It is bitterly cold here at the moment, 4 degrees, so I tend to run the trike up to temp daily in my 'man cave'. Now it starts instantly far less drain on the battery to replace but thanks for the tip.
