BT -46 Tire Experience

Update.. New BT 46 installed with 25,870 miles on bike and 16,370 on the tire and still had 3/32 worth of tread.

I’ve had an Avon Trike tire on order through Summit Racing since last June after I ordered my Roadsmith kit.

I’ve been in contact with the North America Avon Rep and Goodyear bought out Avon. Avon is getting to keep their name, but production was changed around and they were only available overseas. The Rep assures me a shipment is being sent to the US mid to late September. Summit Racing has updated my shipment date to September 24th, so we’ll see.

I’ve been following this thread and a few others on the Honda forums about the BT-45 and BT-46. I was going to cancel my order for the Avon and get a BT-46, but I’m finding several reports of them being “out of round” especially recently.

Several have had to get them replaced under warranty and a few reported the replacement was bad also. It’s funny, I don’t find reports of the BT-45 out of round, only the BT-46 so I don’t know what’s going on there. I have no doubt they are a great tire if you get a good one, but not sure I want to go through dealing with that right now unless the Avon gets backordered some more.

If I do go with a BT-46, will go through the dealer and have them order the tire rather than mail order it in case there is a ride issue with the tire.
