Last week, I left Central Texas on my Goldwing trike and did a tour of western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma for a week and had no trouble until I got back to Quitman. I turned the corner downtown and suddenly the engine died. I could start it in neutral but when I put it in gear, it would die again. Fortunately, I was only 26 miles from my daughter’s house in Lindale. My son-in-law came to rescue me with a trailer and took me to his house. I Googled the problem for answers and low and behold it directed me to an old Trike Talk post from 2012 by Goldrush that addressed the problem. I found the kickstand switch was dragging the ground and it looked to be damaged. I took it apart and cleaned the old dried grease out of it, found the position it was supposed to be in, taped it up solid, put it back in and it worked fine until I got back home. I have since removed the switch replacing it with a jumper made from the old switch connector and tied it in a safe location so that it won’t occur again.

My post is to give a thumbs-up thanks to Goldrush, who without his knowledge, rescued me from what could have been a difficult calamity in a place where Goldwing trike mechanics are hard to come by. Also, to give kudos to Trike Talk for being a good source of info when trikers needs answers. ThumbUp

As soon as I started reading your symptoms, kick stand switch came to mind. A lot of conversion shops remove the kick stand and diddle the switch with a tape and a tuck. Hannigan did me a favor and left mine on. I simply cut it off short and painted the stub end, no worries about the switch moving.

Thanks to Zook and all the mods for a GREAT place to hang out !!!!

This is a GREAT example of why Randy created TRIKETALK. I have that straight from the horses mouth. We can say that now that he lives in Texas
