Brake lights

You would need two bulbs in the light fixture. You need the dual element in there now to perform two functions and you are looking for three functions.....won't work unless you hide another single element bulb in there somewhere.

Automobiles nowadays simply "flash" the brake lights (not both at one time) for the turn signals, but they are wired to behave that way. A motorcycle usually has a 5-wire system, one of which is an individual brake light lead.

There may be some trailer converters out there somewhere that these trailer-pullers know about that could be installed to make the lights work like you want to, but I don't know. My trailer lights are wired-up just like my trike with the HD 5-wire system.

I don't know about the tombstone tail lights, however I use a wiring harness add-on from HD that turns my turn signals into running/turn/brake lights. Don't know why the wiring couldn't be mucked around to make it work with single-bulb-dual-filament lights.

Check out this Site...their Brale/Turn/Running Lites may be the answer to your question.
They have an outstanding Support Staff and will help you in any awy they can. I would say you'd have to remove the current Bulb and it's holder and just place their unit (which is extremely small) inside the Tombstone Fixture.

Motorcycle Safety Lighting by Hyper Lites - Motorcycle Auxiliary LED Safety Stop, Brake, Running Lights, Flashing LED Lights, Turn Signals, LED Voltmeters, Throttle Rockers, Cramp Busters

Hope this helps,

I figured somebody out there had done this. That converter turns the stock HD 5-wire system in to a 4-wire system like an automobile.

I would guess the tombstone joelin has is equipped with a dual element bulb, since it is already performing two functions. Joelin.....all you got to do now is find the right converter and get it wired in......or "mucked around" like Shriner Jim says.

I prefer not to add another component in the loop myself. To me, a converter is just another component that can go bad....but to each his own.
