Hi all,

I have not posted very much here as I did not have a trike, I just read and was learning from you guys. Well last night standing in the Harley shop just looking around found they had just gotten a 1993 Goldwing 1500SE trike in. They offered it to me at wholesale as it was doomed to head to a retailer of non Harley bikes. The price was ridiculously low and could not turn it down even though she is an older bike. So do any of you have a 1500se that you can tell me things about it? All info is appreciated. I don't pick you up until Saturday.

thanks

post some pictures after you pick it up. Maybe we can id the conversion. the gw makes a very good trike. there are are some on the forum I'm sure they will jump in. Have you rode a trike before? If not it's much like an ATV, Jet Ski or Snowmobile you have to turn it leaning doesn't do much good.

hay

Are you new to trikes ?? if so you will like the 1500 gw. I ride a 1500 it is a 2000 and love it. I have not road a 1800 gw but people tell me the 15 has more room and all the power I will ever want. 15's like all motorcycle need TLC. 1s get a manual, for your bike.
keep up with the maintenance ( a well mainten gold wing will go many many miles)I have seen one with 500,000 on it and many with 150000. to 200,0000.
the best thing you have done is getting on this forum, if you have a problem just ask on the forum and some one will have a answer or will help find out how to fix it.

have a good day trail blazer ( Jr. )

As has been said already, GL1500SE's make wonderful trikes. I have one, a 1999 with a CSC trike kit. It has 100K miles on it and I am not afraid to put the second 100 on her. Regular service is your friend!

Congradulations

You will love your 1500SE way more leg room than the 1800. Just be sure to crank it weekly and keep a battery tender on it, 1500's do not like sitting around (experience speaking here).

Lots of chrome, extra lights and other do dads you can add to the trike to make it your own on the 1500 so enjoy your new hobby.

Another suggestion is depending on the condition of your windshield you may want to look at an F4 speedglass. Being tall I got the +4 with vent and being 6'3" it works perfect and it still crystal clear 4 years later.

Like the 1500

I also have a older SE 1500 also.I have a '94 with a CSC trike kit with only 38,000 miles and love it.I have been riding for 55 yrs.and have had many motorcycles, and I still like to work on my own bikes.... which I can still do on the older models. The 1500 is still a great bike.

Well update on purchase...

Well I am not a owner I guess. I was approved but then the bank backed out saying they can only put value on the bike not the trike kit. So it don't meet the loan value. I cannot believe this. Tried switching it to a personal loan with the same bank and they would not do it saying it does not have enough value even though it was a unsecured loan. This sucks. Thank you for all the well wishing and advice. How do people buy these trikes if they don't value the trike kit?

Greetings! I see you are from lock haven, I am from Berwick! My wife and I purchased a '94 GL1500 Roadsmith about a month ago. The trike was purchased from an HD dealer, and they informed us that if we wanted to finance, that Diamond federal credit union would loan money for an older trike. (I'm not sure why, but that stuck in my head). Maybe you could look into it. Look me up sometime if you want to do some riding! ThumbUp

I agree with the credit union suggestion. If that doesn't change, trikes will have a dismal future, especially for those without sufficient means, as well as trade in value. Dealers have a huge interest in this area of finance and should be raising their voices.

Honda finance

they say the reason is the manufacturer did not make the trike so its a liability. I called Honda (needless to say I was pissed.) and asked them if I entered a Honda dealer's shop and they had a brand new Goldwing trike would they finance it. They said they will not finance a trike at all. only the bike. That is just wrong.

Financing

I had the same trouble with my credit union. I had ten thousand down and they would only finance balance for two years. Pissed me off so went to Navy Federal Credit Union and they gave me what I wanted. Mine is 2007 Wing with 2015 roadsmith conversion. I would try them if one is your area.

Will the dealer that has the trike finance any of it? I know it's not a HD but you would think if they were wanting to sell the trike they could do the financing for you. I'm sure you have already tried that but sorry it's not working out for you.

In the case you quoted, Honda wouldn't finance the trike, but a dealer, especially one that does conversions might have other financing arrangements set up. There are 2 Honda powersports dealers in our area, Honda of the Ozarks in Springfield, MO and Heartland Honda of Springdale AR both sell trikes and offer financing on the individual trike page. Financing is out there, though it may be harder to find on older models than on brand new stuff.

Buy mine!

Can't speak to financing issues. But, coincidence? I'm about to put my 93 GL 1500 trike up for sale. (Currently having exhaust system replaced.) It's got 71,000 miles, lots of farkles, custom paint and on and on. Not sure of your price range, (I'll be asking around 10 grand) but shoot me a pm if you would like more info.
