Boone, NC to London, KY via US-321

Using Hwy 421 "The Snake" is a lot more fun in that Area....look at a map....it's that Area's "Dragon"...if You use it, be sure to ride Pine Mountain off of Hwy 119 in Kentucky...it's about my favorite "mountain twisty ride" I've ever done.....ThumbUp

I agree with Skuuter. US 421 is a beautiful ride. You follow the shore of Watauga lake, with several places to stop for the view. Make sure to stop at the Country Store in Shady Valley for a sandwich and a "Snake" souvenir. Hit Hwy 394 in Bristol to I 81 to I 26 into Virginia and on to Kentucky. If you stop in Bristol or Kingsport at one of the liquor stores, you can pick up a bottle of Roberson's Tennessee Mellomoon, our newly legal, locally made Moonshine (available in 100 proof clear, 150 proof clear, and 70 proof caramel). The Boone, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina offers a lot to see and do, including the Daniel Boone Inn (great family style dining), and the different locations of the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis and Boone.

Thanks for input but I was asking about 321. Been over 421 several times - first time in 60. Last time in 94.

Hwy 321 is a good Route too, especially the lower part around North Carolina...then some of it is "OK"......since You've done 421, go for it...:)...like You, I like New Rides also.....ThumbUp

Speaking of new rides....have you tried US-74E out of Asheville? Did it last year and again last week as part of a 1.5K loop from home to Roaring Gap, Lexington, the Tail and home. First 10 or so miles is nothing to write about BUT the next 20 miles has some twisties, from Gerton thru Bat Cave and Lake Lure to River Campground west of Rutherfordton, that rival the Tail and the Triangle. Especially if you're doing 2-up with a loaded camper.

Can finish it off by running 221 to I-40 to Morganton and returning to Asheville over the "hump."

I'll have to consult a map....I've ridden a lot of roads around Bat Cave, Lake Lure, etc., but it's been a while and I don't remember "road numbers"....not too many bad roads in any of those Areas.....ThumbUp

The wife and I honeymooned in Lake Lure, and love eastern Tennesee and western North Carolina. I agree, it's hard to not have fun riding in that area!

Did someone mention Batcave, NC? You shouldn't give me openings like that. Attached is pic of me a couple years ago after the Bat-cycle broke down and I needed to hitch a ride.
(be afraid of asking me about Metropolis, IL):qpnmt::Freak:
