Riding home from Memphis this evening, at 7:10pm a bobcat ran across the road in front of us. We slowed down to get a good look at it as it went into the woods.

5 minutes later, in a left hand curve we ran over a good size water moccasin (3.5 feet).

This was about 30 minutes after it was fully dark. The critters are out tonight as a cold front is moving in overnight.

It was 77* today, and is still 70*, but tomorrow the High is 55*, with a low of 28* coming up.

No pics. :(

Kevin

P.S. It was nice to be on the trike in the curve going over the snake. On 2 wheels that stuff can get a little squirrely.

Glad you squashed the right one. The bobcat would not have made for a good ride. Anything that hurts a moccasin is fine with me. I bet that was a bump and a half though for one that size.

Critters are moving here also!

Yeah! After seeing the bobcat cross I thought about Dawn. She was riding pillion a few years ago and a big jackrabbit crossing the road ended up IN HER LAP. :xzqxz:

She says the rabbit was just as shocked as she was...took a few seconds to get it back off her and the bike!

Didn't even feel the snake...must be the Comfort Lift and good shocks I'm running.

Thanks Fred! Always keep my eyes peeled for deer. We have not seen near as many the last few years in our area. Guess too many houses are going up. But we still see them now and then.
