Bike jacks

Because we had 2 wheelers for a very long time we have 2 bike jacks. Now that we are a trike family, the jacks seem useless. I can lift the front or back, but not the whole bike. Too much 'stuff' in the way at the balance point. Am I doing something wrong? Can't seem to come up with a 'fix' and I'm not sure if I want to spring for a lift table.

Suggestions!!??

Had the same issue...

Got a set of jack stands and they worked just fine. Jack up the back, hitch up the stands then lift the front.

Problem was I got tired of working on my knees (all dirty minds, shut up :D)

Trike lift is about 900 bucks complete so I sprung for it. No trike now but it holds two wheels just fine and the full trike wings that came with mine help hold the bike up until I set a center jack and straps.

Here's one similar to mine. Atlas XLT 1500 - Greg Smith Equipment Sales, Inc

I use it for my riding mower, ATV and to jack up the wifey when she's bad. LOL

Wizard.....we ALL know who has hold of the jack-handle....and it ain't you.

I just use to jack mine up one side at a time and put stands under it. I am a glutton for punishment and just loved to crawl around under there and do stuff. Wizard...being a weenie...sprung for the lift.

Screw.....just be careful around the oil-pan trying to use any lift.

After working off a jack and now a table lift, I'm glad I have a table lift to work off of.

I just purchased the Atlas 1500 high rise. Works great and helps my back while working on the tri glide.

I bought two small scissor jacks from harbor freight. $14.99 on sale. Fits in tight places.

That Big Weel Jack won't lift up a Tri Glide, front and rear at the same time. I use a Motorcycle jack to raise the front and a floor jack for the rear. Works great.

I'll take a picture of it for you, pretty simple piece....just need one critical angle iron piece for catching the rail. I'll take a picture later today and post it.

I had the same problem after triking my bike. I found that the ramps I used for the car worked very well for the trike.( I use 3 ramps) Just drive up on them and you can change oil and filter very easy.It puts the bike about a foot up and very stable. I guess if you wanted it would be very easy to then use your m/c jack to go up onto jack stands. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks..I have the exact same lift but it was made by someone else years ago when I bought it in the 90's. I have a idea what the adapter looks like but a picture would help.

I can't believe that video on the Big Wheel Jack. I don't know how they keep the bike on the platform, even sitting on the front end without tying it down somehow. I have a jack very similar to it and I wouldn't spin it around let alone sit on it. :)

You would think it would lift a trike after seeing the guy sitting on the front end in the video - concept isn't much different - a lot heavier on one end.

Is there a place you can lift the back end of the Tri Glide with a single lift arm auto jack(not the kind that comes with the car).

Just in front of the lower shock mount on each side is a welded D-ring substantial enough for jacking.

Trikermutha:

Lift adapter basically appears to be 3/8" plate roughly 7 3/4" long by 5 1/2" wide with a 1 1/4" square tube riser.

Thanks..Where does that adapter end up pushing on when lifting the trike? What does that adapter cost..cheap I hope...LOL

Got the PM you sent. I use a bushtec .

I'm thinking it was at most 40 bucks. Don't really remember. Once you slide the lift is under the frame, you have to insert the adapter over the lift rail, and it has rubber pads (like the lift rails do) and supports the frame up behind/under the transmission.

Thanks for the pics 41inWV. I bought the Pitbull jack about three years ago. Been a great jack. I haven't bought the adapter for the Trike yet. Been using jack stands. Might have to buy it in the near future.

thanks alot..seems like a cheap fix to lift the trike..I have used jacks etc they all work but I still like to lift the whole trike off the ground to work on it..
