BIGTROUBLE in EngineBuild

Butch Im no expert but from what I have come to understand with exhaust there is 3 things happening within the exhaust pipe

1) The air movement from head as it exits

2) ( Reversion ) The air that is drawn back into the head for the next combustion cycle.

3) The sonic wave as the air breaks the sound barrier

Controlling them is key to good flow with only minimal reversion. If the pipe is too big the velocity of the exhaust gases will not flow out fast enough at lower rpms and you will get too much reversion slowing the flow down from the next pulse of the exhaust valve. Also if the pipe is too big the sonic wave will be slowed down and not move out the exhaust correctly.

The biggest restrictions on the Triglide exhaust is the left side hump and the right side extension. I eliminated the hump on the left side of my modified exhaust ( See attached picture )

Im using a modified V&H Power Dual headpipe with Fullsac 2.25 baffles in CVO muffler cans for my 124". The V&H headpipe with Kuryakyn Crusher mellow mufflers have show they can support a engine producing 140/140. The V&H Powerdual pipe uses a 1 7/8" primary pipe to the X pipe

Ooook!!! I think I am with you on this, so basically I should stick with the headers and pinched stock cross overs I have now. I thought about just changing out the pinched cross over with Fuel Moto's X-Over Kit, which I see you did, only u used V&H's cross over. My problem is I don't know how much restriction I can get away with right now and there is no one around town here that can tell me, so all I can do buy parts and play around and hope I'm going the right way. I thank everybody for they're input every bit helps.

Yea -Since installing fuelmoto headers I stuck with the stock crossover and ceramic coated and stuck with the TTS tune.. I also have the stout 4" mufflers. So I dont want to push it with the crossover just yet on mine..
I am even experimenting with the Boyeson intake wing right now..I am happy so far with the bottom end on the stock cam so far..

Couple of questions

1) Did Fuelmoto custom make you a pipe with the extension for the Triglide? Reason I ask if the primary tube is bigger through out the length and they didnt make them for you, you might need to get a muffler shop to open the end up on a set of the extensions for you

2) Which mufflers are you planning on using with the new XXX pipe?

Your still gonna have back pressure with the left side of the exhaust due to the hump in the pipe. With the full size cross under pipe the back pressure will be little less to a certain point.

Keep us posted on your progress when you start installing the engine and exhaust. :D

(1) No Fuelmoto did not make it for me, the XXX-pipe is being made for 115hp and up and for two wheelers. Fuelmoto is including the V&H trike extensions (additional cost) with my order which is the XXX-pipe and X-over pipe. My mufflers should fit the ends of the extensions.

(2) The mufflers are my old mufflers with are HD's SE 4" mufflers (SE catalog, page 38, Item "B" part #80892-10.

I'm hoping to hang on to some back pressure. I was thinking that the old exhaust system would be to restricting for the 120R. Also I'm using the Thundermax ECM and the program I found is set up just about for my setup except for they are using true duals with slip on mufflers and it's on a two wheeler.

I will keep you up date with everything, thank you

You know..... after you get this thing built and have cracked the throttle a few times..... you will be able to scratch your ankles without bending over!
