Big trip Thursday

Big Trip Thursday

Thursday after work,my wife and I will be starting a once in a life time trip for us. We are planning on going from ohio to the west coast, riding the west coast, and back.We have many roads to ride in between.

Have a wonderful time and post along the way...be safe and HAVE FUN!

Great ride. On the pacific coast highway make sure you stop to see the seals. Also do the highway of the giant trees out there. Enjoy. If possible go from the north to the south. That puts you on the water side of the road as you ride. Easier to enjoy the view not having to look across the other lane all the time.

Awesome! Have a Great Trip!

I envy You and your co-pilot! I have a bucket list that includes that same thing and I am ten years older than you, so I feel like my time is short! Ride safe, enjoy, and come back with a lot of stories and pictures!

I've done it several times.. Best time of the year to go...long days, no monsoon in the Southwest yet. Only downside is the fact that PCH is colder in the Summer than in the Fall or Winter. Deserts in California heat up, brings in that cold Pacific air along the coast.

You will have a great time. Wish I had someone to do it with again.

Exactly, I was riding out there coming down Highway 1 and I rode in fog and 60 degrees for several hours. Finally, I stopped and talked to a local that asked why I was riding on the coast this time of year. He suggested I go east just 24 miles. I did, and it was 94 degrees with no fog. It taught me a lot about California geography and how it affects weather. Stayed away from the coast and had warm dry weather the entire trip.

Thanks everyone. We are trying to cover a lot of miles today and not much to see yet.will post pics when I can. We are stopped for lunch but got breakfast. Time zone has all ready got us.I had 11:30 my time , its 10:30 hear.We got up just after 5am and was on the road before 7.

Sounds like you're off to a good start, looking forward to some pics as you move along your travels.

We traveled 752 miles today.that's the most we have ever done in a day. It was a long day in the saddle. 1002 miles since we left home yesterday around 4 pm. We hope to cover a lot of miles tomorrow then we can slow down a few days and enjoy the sights. Not much to see today. We are in Sioux city tonight and pulling out in the morning.

I take it you're not visiting Devil's Tower or Crazy Horse while in the vicinity? Often two many things to do and see and rarely enough time to do justice in a single visit. The wife and I took 14A to Cody so we could see the Big Horn mountains. It is probably the toughest route to Cody, but spectacular unless you don't like steep grades, twisters, and heights. Extremely scenic and we thought breath taking. Enjoy, entering the east gate loop into YS, we existed toward Jackson Hole, simply awe inspiring for us. However, any route will be memorable, enjoy the adventure. ThumbUp
