Happy Turkey Day y'all. I have a homemade VW trike with
a 1600cc motor and not very loud headers. No windshield at this time and I ride in a 3/4 open face helmet. I want to put speakers on it that I can hear at 70mph or so and hook an mp3 player to. No need for a radio. I have plenty of room for an amp. Any suggestions that will fit a small budget will be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Make your own speaker cases to fit and look like you want add speakers of your choice. I suggest either 6.5 inch or 6x9inch speakers. Use the amp of your choice. 75 watts rms minimum each speaker. Speaker cases are really easy to make just give em enough room inside to perform properly with installation. You can add a base port easy to. I use a empty tolit paper roll then seal with something to water prof it. The port works from the sound coming off the back of the speaker and helps with bass and clarity.
Use good speakers and a good known amp. Don't go cheap on this go ahead and get good stuff. The upper volume will have a crisp with very good clarity to it.
I would add 2 style plugs, one for the plug for normal mp3 players use and a usb cable. This way you can use a mp3 or a thumb drive.
There are a lot of different ways to to this. This is nothing but a suggestion.
Just make sure the amp and speakers are compatible to each other. If you are using a 75 watt amp per speaker then your speaker should be 75 watt rms +-10%. If the speakers are over rated for the amp the volume will not be as good, take more to drive em. If they are underated then you may have distortion on the upper end and the clarity will not be as good.
I made my own system for our pool room using a car receiver, car amp, and car speakers. It sounds great. Oh, I use a 30 amp 12 volt power supply.
