Arkansas color update

Thanks. We are heading out on the 19th to tour from Hot Springs around thru Mt. Magazine, looping around thru Jasper, Mountain View and Conway back to Hot Springs. This is timely for us. The colors should just be about right by then.

I suspect the farther N.W. you can go the better the colors will be. Just a thought. You've got a neat trip there.

If you are in the area, visit the Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison. If the maple trees are in full color it is absolutely gorgeous.

Be safe on your journey.

Definitely ride thru the cemetery in Harrison, that alone will make the trip worth it if the leaves have changed.

9 hours, 417 miles to Mena, AR. A little over 2,100 bikers at CMA Colors 2016 on Iron Mountain. What a great event. BIG weather change. High 70s in the day, down to mid 50s at night. Nice clear days; great weather to ride. Day trip into Oklahoma; leaves starting to change.

Had armrests installed for the misses and had helmet speakers and mikes installed for the intercom.

Leaving Sunday AM and heading home to North Florida. Really enjoying our trike.

Just got back from 1500 miles to Arkansas to see the fall colors. Started out Wednesday hot and muggy in Texas. Left Thursday in the rain from Hot Springs. Went to Mt. Magazine. Dried out. Got cold. No color. The ranger at the visitors center said there won't be much color this year because of the lack of rain. Went to Jasper. Got cold. No color. Went to Harrison. Got cold. No color. Ate barbecue. Back to Hot Springs thru Conway. Warming up. No color. Sunday, came home.

I guess last week was too early for the fall trees. The only red things we saw was the Sumac. They turn red early. Maybe the cold front that came thru will bring about the change in the trees. Even though the we didn't get to see what we went for, it was still a good ride, and the greenery was still beautiful. Maybe next vacation will be better.

Just got back from Harrison AR, leaves do not have much color, looks like it's been dry.
Stayed at an old hotel downtown, Hotel Seville, it has great eye appeal if you are interested in architecture, clean, good beds and garage parking for the Trike. Breakfast not so hot.
Overall a good trip.

Our 200 miles club ride yesterday took us from Mtn Home thru Harrison, Jasper and down 7 to Rotary Ann Overlook. Color is spotty and not that good. In fact, it's the worst I've seen in the 12 years I've lived here. Just too dry the last couple of months and no cold snap to trigger the change.

Still a pretty ride though and worth the effort. :D
