Arizona Gathering 2023

I may not make it to Arizona this year. On Wednesday had a water line break in my attic above the dining room and the ceiling collapsed. Had water running thru the outside wall onto the patio. Got 16 fans/heaters running in about a 12 foot circle trying to dry out the hardwood flooring and walls and cabinets. There is talk of having to move everything out and replace all of the flooring (1600 sq ft) May have to replace the Cabinets in the kitchen. If that happens all will have to be replaced because I replaced all the cabinet exteriors and doors with my own design about 20 years ago.

Dang Ray, that's some bad luck for sure, hope you get things fixed up without too much hassle.

Ray, that's horrible! Hope insurance kicks in and covers water damage.

About 4 years ago, had a water flood at the house in AZ in Sept....no one at the house at the time, but neighbor noticed water coming out the front of the house! I know what you mean about fans, blowers and heaters...called insurance co. Got the ok, and clean-up team there the same night I called. 4 months (and $45K) later when we arrived in AZ for the winter, all was back to normal...and maybe better! Insurance co. even got my $1k deductible back.

Hate to pay premiums, but when they come through like troopers, feel much better!

Sure hope everything works out in the end.

Had the same thing happen four years ago. Flooded the dining room not as bad then as it is now. Cost the insurance company about $92K then. Hope to find out more on Monday. Four years ago the emptied the whole house and put us up in a hotel for about 6 weeks while they ripped out the old wood floors and leveled out everything and put in all new hardwood floors. Having the housed re plumbed starting Monday with a 15 year warranty.

Best of luck to you on your repairs

I will not be able to make the '23 E Arizona ride this year. Found out little over a month ago the dates for Homecoming/50th Class Reunion....yep, same weekend. 29th-30th of September...I imagine I should go to that one.

But, will try to make sure I'm in AZ next Fall.

Finished ripping out the wood flooring in the front half of the house yesterday. Waiting on the insurance company now to say yea or nay on what the construction company wants to do. Probably not going to make the Arizona meet and it looks like our trip to see relatives on the East coast in October is in jeopardy.

wondering where everybody else is staying.

While looking for a place stay, I found a lot of cabins in the area that were not that expensive. Search for cabin rentals in Greer. Also if you call the Lazy Trout, the owner there was very helpful and I am sure they can direct you to another place close by.

Head Count

About time to get a head count so I can get an idea how much food to get for Day 2 Lunch in camp.

Burgers

Tater Salad

Sally's Beans

I'm trying to go, but won't really know for a few more days. Still waiting on the insurance company to make a decision on which company they are going to approve to do the work on the house. The way it looks now I will be there because the way things are progressing the days that I will be gone they will be install wall board and the ceiling in the dining room and waiting on the cabinets to arrive.

Hope the timing works out. Would be good to ride with you again.
