I will be starting the install on my 2006 motor trike for a Honda CB and Honda antenna. I also have the two filters. I've watched several videos and think I have a pretty good idea of what to do. Just looking for any hints or tricks from others who have completed this particular install.

Sounds like you have done you homework Bill. The install is not difficult as long as you follow the instructions closely. Be very careful drilling the antenna mount holes. I drill the holes a bit small and fine tune them with a rat tail file..

Good Luck Bill :xszpv::xszpv:

Jerry, thanks for the antenna mounting hint. Any comments to share about the filters?
Thank You;
Bill

Gee, I forgot about those. As I recall they go on the fan power lines. To be honest I don't remember much about that. The last one of that style I installed was back in 2005. Somewhere in the install instruction it should tell you how to get to the proper place. Seems as though I recall it being a bit challenging but not impossible. The key as I said before is to just take your time and follow the instructions. Don't get flustered. Sometimes dealing with Goldwing plastic can try one's patience. If you are not familiar with the plastic having a shop manual is very helpful... :xszpv: :xszpv:

Good luck!!

Try the CB before taking the trouble installing the filters!
Found some that didn't need the filters:Shrug:
Mine did not need them:pepper:
Make sure you fine tune the SWR on the channel you intend to use the most!

The 13 pin white plug -
1. Can be reached by loosening the top shelter on the right side. It is not necessary to remove if you are careful. You can route the cable ok.

2. Be sure and use electronic cleaner on bike plug before using. It has been laying there collecting dust, dirt and oxidation for a long time. Be sure to also clean outside of plug so it will mate easily with the new one.

3. After making the connection and trying the system to assure all is working, I would tape the plug end facing forward so that dust, dirt and water will not enter from the front of the bike.

My 12 vdc power plug was buried tightly beneath some other plugs and wires near relay panel. So dig carefully and you will find it.

Good luck. Really not that hard but take your time. Measure twice, cut once. :D

Don't know what cb brand you have? But the last Honda factory cb I installed, the directions said to remove the trunk to drill the hole for the cb wires...this isn't necessary that hole can be drilled from the outside of the trunk after the seat has been removed...

Especially if you use a right angle air grinder w/a hole saw!
BTW, never ever carry any liquids in your trunk. Leaking containers can cause the demise of radios!!!!:AGGHH:

They are correct Bill. I remember using a Dremel Tool to cut the hole on that last install I mentioned. Start small and open up just enough to get the special grommet in place... Sorry I forgot that.

OH, another little trick. You do not have to remove the left pocket and route the antenna cable under the seat. Come out of the trunk right at the bottom just clear of the pocket/speaker pod. Tuck the antenna cable into the corner and all is well. :xszpv::xszpv:

OK, I've made mental notes for these recommendations. Mynormal motto is "there isn't anything a Dremel can't make worse". However in this case this is just what Dremel's are made for. It will be a week or so as the trike is at the dealer for brake recall.
