Been on two wheels since the late '60's - did the Harley FLT with a CSC Friendship III sidecar for a few years when the kids were little. Now on a 2014 Goldwing/Hannigan GEN II. I'm a former Dark Side Wing rider. First order of business is seeing if I can make the beast get more than 33 mpg. I'll be wanting input about what's the best high-mileage front tires...

Welcome to trike talk from Wyoming. cowboy-rearing%20horse.gif

The best high mileage front tire is a rear tire the exact same size as the current front tire mounted in backward rotation.

Popular tires seem to be: MPA (Michelin Pilot Activ) and Bridgestone BT-45 sized as per Paul's post above. Reversed or standard based on you review of the "evidence" - numerous postings on the subject.

Personally, I have a BT-45 on my GL1500 - now has about 7,000 on it - to me, still looks like new.

Best wishes for your new 2014 GW Trike. My 1500 mpg is typically in the 34 - 36 range depending on city vs hwy riding. 28 - 30 when pulling my PiggyBack trailer.

Welcome to Trike Talk. Have fun, post often, ride safe! :wave4:

Welcome Rick and greetings from Long Island (eventually). That mileage doesn't look that bad. I feel lucky when I hit the 30mpg mark.

I have the BT-45 on my Yamaha Stratoliner trike and love the tire. I am excited as hell if I get over 30mpg on my rig. I can got over 30 if I stay under 3,000 rpms and the trike is not loaded. Good luck with finding ways to get better mileage.
Oh yea, welcome to TT, from downtown Central Texas! Ride safe and post often.
